xxkbxx
Hello,I am setting up my network either this evening or tomorrow and I want to have my Network Places (consists of one folder with other folders in it) to be password protected. There is one other computer in my house (on the same workgroup) that can access the files, but I would like a password prompt to come up whenever the folder was accessed. shanenin
if you have a linux box that is sharing files with a windows box, this will set a passwoedsmbpasswd -a rootnow to see these files from network places in windows, you will need to enter a passwordI am not sure how you would set this in windows, I'm waiting to see what one of the "windows experts" saysedit added later//I think windows home only allows for "simple file sharing". I am not sure, but do not think setting a password is an option for windows xp home. This may be possible with xp professional.
