martymas Posted December 18, 2005 Report Share Posted December 18, 2005 hi all im trying to get this old compt going ive changed the mother boardand bought another video card it was going before i messed with it. now i get a post beep.and i hear it booting but i cant get a picthis is a 166 p64mg ram the monitor is ok the hdd is ok the cdrom and floppy are going through normal light up order i just hope spme dosent suggest it is ram because it is eddo ram and i may not be able to replace it.i only use the compt to practice and experiment withbut it is nice when you can get an end result .marty Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Not trying to read a PCI slot, for instance?I have an older than hell Cyrix 686 comuter and that happened to me once.Joe Quote Link to post Share on other sites
Pete_C Posted December 18, 2005 Report Share Posted December 18, 2005 I agree, if you have onboard video and it still works, clear cmos and connect the monitor to the onboard. See if that solves it. Then if it does configure your bios and set things up to use the other video card. If you do not have onboard video, try reseating the card. It may have come just loose enough to cause no signal, but not to trip the no video card error. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
martymas Posted December 18, 2005 Author Report Share Posted December 18, 2005 hi all .in reply no it isnt an on board video it is 64 mg card i use for experimenting.i had it going at one stage but when i tried to install win 98it got to a certain point and i got the message your download was interupted so i had to stop the download i was advised that is not enough ram so i changed the ram and mobo.now i cant cant ino the bios as the option doesnt show.on the screen i hear the boot up but get no pic.thanks marty Quote Link to post Share on other sites
