martymas Posted August 26, 2004 Report Share Posted August 26, 2004 hi team i just scanned my d: with house call and avg and both scanners detect a i kill the c-mos trojonmy son sent the the cd which had wipe the drive.and i can tremember the other .i ant to istall win98se on a sys that has used winxpand i need to change from nfts to fat and the only way is to wipe the data off the drive.now these scanners are seeing these wipe appli as a virus.my son said they arnt viruses but that is the way the scanners sees themi cant delete them because i cant delelte them from a cd.or can i can some one help marty Quote Link to post Share on other sites

BitBangerUSA Posted August 26, 2004 Report Share Posted August 26, 2004 you don't need to use a separate program to wipe the drive.when you delete the existing partition(s), make new one's and then format the partitions, you'll have effectively wiped out the previously stored files.the only proper thing to do with an infected cd is to physically break it, then throw it away. this avoids the possiblity of forgetting weeks or months later that it is infected and then putting it in the system. if there are files on it that are clean, you can first copy those to the hard drive and make a new cd. martymas Posted August 19, 2005 Author Report Share Posted August 19, 2005 hi teami need to acknowledgethe help i got from the thread this compt is like a lost soulas i forget about it at times and if it wasent for the email.i would have forgotten about the problem i posted so i need to appoligise to the posters who went to all the trouble to helpok the problem is fixed now after reading your replys i used the fdisk format option and i must admit i had forgotten how to do it until i tried all the posters fixes one of the bugbears of xp is it is so easy that to try another sys brings you up with a jolt so thanks alland again i appoligise for not getting back with the promise it wont happen again .at the moment im so busy i have to post my schedule on the back door so i can see it and remember what my tasks are ok ta again marty Quote Link to post Share on other sites
