ive just reverted one of these compt back to 32bit

as the recovery console isnt compatabe to 64bit

i tried installing the i386 folder on the 64bit

but it keeps giving me an error notice.

im now waiting for your tutorial on

installing the recovery console via slipstreamming

and please make it easy as you can

i just installed the windows support tools

and i had to print it out and get a friend to read it to me word for word.

i presum it is transferred from your hdd to a cd.

so i have some Queries for you later

god why did i take up trying to use a compt

it is never ending.

thanks

Are your problems related to having WinXP CD with SP1 but you updated to SP2 on the PC? If so you need to slipstream SP2 to WinXP with SP1 first then install the Recovery Console. Is this correct?

Slipstreaming Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2)

Installing Windows XP Recovery Console

You receive an error message if you try to install the Recovery Console on a Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2-based computer

hi TheTerrorist_75

yes this is something im not sure about

i got the sp2 cd from microsoft

which didnt have the option to access the recovery console

i typed the nesiscery path in the run box

but it said

my cd was out of sync with my sys

and i needed to install the i386 folder to my harddrive

so i did that.

then i had to install the latest sp2 update to my hdd

from the microsoft website

but that will take ten hrs and ime on dial up

when i posted chappy said wait and i will write an easy tutorial to the board

so i was waiting for him to p[ost .

the other problem i had

i have 2 compts and they both had winxppro 64bit

and i found later

you cant install the recovery console on 64bit

i was going to sell one

but i reverted it back to winxp32 bit

so thats where i am at the moment .

im a bit slow in picking up those changes

so i need to have it explained slowly

so im back to were i started.

but i will have a look at your links

and start all over again

i installed micro support tools

so im improveing

tho this one is a bit of a challenge.
