rjmiller15
My sis in law has a Hp Pavilion 754N. She had a system fan failure start on her computer a few weeks after she got it, and sent the computer away and supposedly got it fixed. Here it is a year later, and the same thing is happening. "System fan failure, the system will shut down in 15 seconds..." or something very close to that effect.Does system fan failure mean the CPU fan is bad? She opened her computer and all the fans in the case are running until the computer shuts down. What does this error mean? And if it is the CPU fan where can I get a fan to fit the cpu on that particular motherboard? Thanks in advance.
Chappy
It is probably the CPU fan as the computer probably uses CPU temp as an indicator of fan failure. It's quite possible that simply cleaning the fan and heatsink with compressed air and soft brush will fix this problem. Remove the fan from the heatsink and blow it out with air along with the heatsink (hs). Use a soft bristled paint brush to also brush out the HS, but do it softly as not to create any static charge.Any good electronics store will have a fan to fit that heatsink if it does need to be changed tho, just remove it and take it in and they should have something for you.
