Brian_Holiday
I am trying to optimize the speed at which my machine reads and writes to and from the hard disks (I am working with Video). I don't want to stripe, just access what I have as fast as possible. One tip I picked up somewhere is to isolate the IDE drives on their own channel as master with no slave. I have a PCI raid card, and was wondering: Which is actually faster, the IDE raid card or the onboard channels? If I were to hazard a guess, I would think the onboard. But I would like to be sure, and know why. PC Specs: 2.4 Athlon, 1gb ram, Asus A7N8X-X, 2 DVD Burners, 160 Seagate, 250 Seagate, 120 Maxtor. TIA, BH
