hi team ide like to pinpoint

how technology has advanced

tho it isnt compt related.

i have these new hearing aids

and they are controlled by the sounds around you

there is a remote with it.

but so far i havent had to use it .

the sound is controled by turning your ear to the sound and

and it adjusts it self auto.

the batterys are supplied by acc .

so the cost to me is minumal.

they also subdue backgroud noises.

i just cant get over the tech.

that is used to make these things.

i thought i would post this so any one who is hard of hearing .

can think about the tech of the future.

these are made by sydney univarsity [australia]

who are a leading exponent of this tech.

Thanks MArty...

Yes it is good to know that technology is finally able to solve some long time problems...

Now if they can make a cigarette last for 2-years and a gallon of gas last for a decade I'll be a happy camper..

But, I'd just be happy touring again in a Rock & Roll Band.. hehe :D

Whoa, Marty, that is awesome!!! I'm not Deaf, but too many ear infections and allergies caused my hearing to be not so good. My biggest hearing problem is that my ears don't "multi-task" and background noises are huge problems (don't go to bars anymore, except Whiskeymans!! and I have such a horrible time hearing folks in crowds)

Can you make eye contact with people while wearing these aids? (like aiming the ear just a little bit towards the speaker) as I read lips by habit, too.

You said the batteries weren't too pricey, but how about the aids themselves? As long as I avoid conversations in crowds, I manage fine without any help, but who knows what will happen in the future.

Give us a "Benchmark Report" :)

**See Darkest Dreams post, give us the details!!!

I'm for the permanent guitar strings!! (especially that darned high E...crank, sproing, ouch, cussword!) Finally realized that taking the guitar to the shop for restringing is cheaper than buying 2 extra high E strings. :) Permanent tune would be icing on the cake.

Ask about a *Lockdown System* for your guitar...

Get it in tune and lock it, then use the *Fine Tuners* to get it totally in Pitch..

Stays in tune longer...

If your using an Acoustic prolly won't work...

Ah, bah, yes, I have an old acoustic Epiphone...... :(  What is it, is it like a capo???

Sorry Marty!!!!!!... I didn't mean to Highjack your thread....

No not a *Capo* Blim...

They make *Tuning Keys, i.e. Machineheads* that have a locking mechanisum that will not let the string move on the tuner keys..

Also there is one for the *Bridge Area* that does the same thing, but since you have

an acoustic I'm not sure (Since I haven't been keeping up on it lately) whether they have one that would work for you or not..

Strings will tend to go out of tune with just normal playing because you are pressing down on them and thus ever so slightly *Stretching Them*...

Humidity, Heat and a few other factors will make them go out of tune also..

:D

what kind is it?? Windx?? Starkey??

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

hi DarkestDream

i answered you post but some how it didnt get through

gone for a walkabout.

the aids are developed by Sydney univarsity

and manafactered by starkey

apparently they have a contract between them.

i believe the sydney uni is a leading xponent of this tech

around the world .

because my ear problem is accident related

i get them free. paid by

a scheme we have in this country

called accident compensation.

it is also free in australia

and any upgrade or new tech

i get it free

under the compo rules .

my doctor filled me in on this scheme.

once i got knocked off my bike

because i couldnt hear the car on my right

i heard it on my left so i moved to the right and i went for a sixer

right outside my docs surgery.

so he set things in motion

and that is where i am today

my deafness caused by

haveing my amplifier turned up to loud

but at the time i didnt realise

i was turning it up so i could hear it .

and if any one has played eletric base will know this

look space dosent allow to go any further .

but i can keep the board informed of this tech in the future .

sorry bout the length of the post

as usual i got carried away
