i posted about how to stop spam from arriving

to your inbox through email

by using message rules

ok ive tried message rules

and after trial and error

i havent recieved

spam mail for 2 weeks

i was getting this stuff like

pharmaceuticals .sex .viagra.how to make so and so bigger

and i didnt want to load a third party appli

because they are no better after a while

and im sure they sell your email address to spammers

so i persereved with message rules.

and so far ive been spam free for two weeks

if i get any more

from now on

i will block them and get them deleted from the server .

im not saying it is a hundred percent

but so far so good

that message rules configuration is a hassle

and im sure that is what puts a lot of people off it

but it is working for me SO FAR

i dont want a third party appli

Hi Marty

Unfortunately my friend, you'll NEVER completely be able to rid yourself of email spam, the spammers use different tactics to keep from being caught by message rules (filters).

Getting just a few a week is doing rather well really, that means that your filters are doing a decent job of getting most of them. I have over 100 message filters (same thing as rules just a different name) and I still get a couple every now and then.

The bad ones for me right now are all the Stock Market ones, because the spammers just use a ficticious name as the email title, so its different everytime and a "Title" filter would do no good.

Anyway buddy, only getting 1 to 7 a week is doing an awesome job!!

Pat yourself on the back for doing well and don't be so hard on yourself!!

I use gmail for everyone. If I see they don't spam me or sell my address I will change my contact info to reflect my true address. gmail has a decent spam filter.

I use Thunderbird as my email client. It has a spam/junk otion that can be trained. So far so good for me.
