Question about Norton anti virus

Recommended Posts

I've had Norton for over two years and any time that I ran a scan, it always found 20 or more tracking cookies.  now, it finds none. I called Norton to ask why, and the rep from India said he had to take over my computer to check Norton program.  I allowed him to do that and he stated he did not find any problems with the program but could not give me a reason why on tracking cookies don't show up.  Then he told me that Norton specialist will clean my computer, give me three  years of Malware and a few other items. . It took him over 10 minutes to get all of what they will do for me out.   Then, at the end, he drops the bomb, the cost will be $299.  Dose any body use Norton, if so , does it show the cookies at the end of the scan ?

Hey, you can check to see if it's not searching for them !

Please follow the bellow steps to check if the Tracking Cookies Scan is "Ignored".

If you have Norton Internet Security, Please follow this.

1. Open Norton program.

2. Go to Settings ---> Computer Scan.

3. Look for "Tracking Cookies Scan" option on the right side.

4. If its set to "Ignore" , thats where the problem is.

5. Click on the it and set it to "Remove".

6. Then click Apply and Ok.

If you have Norton 360, please follow these steps.

1. Open Norton program.

2. Go to Settings ---> Scans and Risks.

3. Look for "Tracking Cookies Scan" option bellow.

4. If its set to "Ignore" , thats where the problem is.

5. Click on the it and set it to "Remove".

6. Then click Apply and Ok.

I have never used Norton because it was reported long ago that it was a big resource hog !!

Then when you do a Quick or a Full scan, it should detect and remove the Tracking cookies.

Chuck, thanks for the reply.  My version did not have the setting so I called Norton.  They told me that the new version that I have on my computer, removes they during the scan or as routine checks made by the program.  I wonder how may  other  people had the problem.  Been nice if they sent out a notice about the change.

hpg, Yeah that would be nice !! That's why i hate those "Pay Antivirus" all i have ever used is the ones that come with W 10  for this new system and the free Avast when it came out long ago ! And only 1 virus in 20 yrs. ! I also clean my computer out every 6 months just to make sure nothing is hiding !!

Most cookies are harmless. You might also look at CCCleaner which a lot of people use to choose which cookies to keep so they do not get logged out of a site !!

See Ya !
