mikex
I will be building a site for a family member and this is a host company that looks good.Click to see plansHas board features and a store front and much more. A friend of mine is using it and so far so good. It also has an ftp front end for uploading files to the server.MDoes anyone have something to hide/scramble email addys from bots. The addy will be on a site page(s), want to keep addy from being harvested. Could/should a "contact me" form work?More coding questions to come later. lolM Edited March 28, 2005 by mikex
Dragon
you can always try this code,Electronic mail: <script LANGUAGE="JavaScript"><!-- Beginuser = "yourname";site = "yourdomain.com";document.write('<a href=\"mailto:' + user + '@' + site + '\">');document.write(user + '@' + site + '</a>');// End --></SCRIPT>otherwise there is a number of email scramblers out there. And here is another Webhost worth looking at, easy to use adn has a frontend FTP alsogtgwebhosting.com
jcl
Does anyone have something to hide/scramble email addys from bots.If the readers can cope with a little work, the old hand-scrambling methods -- "foo at bar dot com" and the like -- seem to work reasonably well. Lots of variations on Usenet.Could/should a "contact me" form work?Yup. As long as the address isn't in the form. Edited March 29, 2005 by jcl
cowsgonemadd3
If you pay into any of those plans your getting burned. I have been looking for a host for my new site and have found better deals with all the same features but more space and transfer. Here is a site all about website owning:http://www.webmaster-talk.com/index.php?They have been where I have learned a lot and am asking questions there now. There are a lot of web host owners there that will give you a custom plan. Here are a couple hosts better than what you have now:http://www.globat.com/packages/index.phphttps://www.godaddy.com/gdshop/hosting/shar...p?se=%2B&ci=260They offer more for the same price. It always pays to search around!
mikex
UpdateEfwiz checked it out. emailed sales then got an undeliverable mail message. Got with OLM. Brother in law signed up for the $9.95 plan got it for under $100 per year. He is the type not to get something cheap get something economical. Order should be processed and ready in 24 hours. I called OLM had them call Bro... something the lady on the phone said they don't usually do. Make call outs that is.Now it's time to code. Thanks for the input.M

stupefiedgenius
I'm not sure if this is off-topic but, unless you plan to use this contact for say selling something, I recommend using an image showing your email address to thwart the robots. If you are lazy like me use this:
