Security Mechanic is a rogue security program. Security Mechanic is promoted through the use of advertisements that pretend to be online anti-malware scanners. The advertisement will pretend to scan and when it is finished it will then state that your computer is infected and that you should download and install Security Mechanic to protect your computer. What you are seeing is just an advertisement and it has absolutely no way of knowing what is running on your computer - it's just a ploy to get you to install the software.

Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware can detect and remove this rogue application for free. Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware to your desktop.

• Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  
• At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to the following:
  
  • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    
  • Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
