Andro1d Posted February 14, 2009 Report Share Posted February 14, 2009 Hi everyone,Well we have a home network with a wireless routher(802.11G) and two computer's with wireless adapters in them hooked up to the network. Also have the occasional PSP and iTouch hooked up to it wirelessly as well. Anyways, we want to upgrade to 802.11 N to get the faster speeds mainly for the desktops since they are both used for gaming. We have a price limit of about $250 total for the router and two wireless adapters. Any suggestions on hardware are highly appreciated. I found the following, but not sure if its any good. If so Wireless B is going to be just as fast.The only place where that additional speed of the wirneless N router is going to come in play is communication between computers and devices on your internal network.IE if you are playing each other inside your LAN (LAN PARTY) with one player on each of the two computers then possibly you would notice a difference. If you are using one as a media center and streaming from it to your TV then it could help there.But as far as contributing to better online gaming no it will not.You would be better off getting a gaming router like the D-Link DGL Gamerslounge series with "Gamefuel Priority"http://games.dlink.com/products/?pid=643DGL-4500 Quote Link to post Share on other sites

Same with the other computer since they have the same card. So since we are upgrading, we thought might as well get the newer standard.Also, our internet speed is 15Mbps. There's no guaranty that draft-n products will be compatible with each other or with the standard. Probably more likely that they will than not, but still, no guaranty.Also, our internet speed is 15Mbps.That's 802.11a/g territory. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

sethook Posted February 18, 2009 Report Share Posted February 18, 2009 You may want to look for adaptors that come with a cable that will allow a better placement of the antenna then buried behind the tower. Linksys has one that is a PCI card with cable and a few that are USB with a cable.
