irregularjoe
We all hate spam. It's evil, vile, intrusive, and annoying.Like most tech savvy geek types, especially those on the best tech savvy geek site on the web, Besttechie, I have a multitude of specific email addresses. I use one of them to do things like online purchasing and web registrations. Naturally this address is the one that gets the most junk mail spam.I usually do a swift delete on the hundreds of junk mail contents perodically. Today however, just as I was about to press the delete button this caught my eye:Won tim Big Discount: Xamax, Ambienv, Valiun, Viagrav, Phamtermin37.5mg Yeah, it was one of those online sites that try to sell you discounted outdated illegal prescription medication that in all likelihood is actually Aspirin manufactured on some goat farm in China. But I DID have to laugh when I read it. My advice to spammers: LEARN HOW TO SPELL! INVEST IN A DICTIONARY! TAKE SOME OF THE PROFITS THAT YOU STEAL FROM SELLING THIS CRAP AND USE IT TO TAKE A REMEDIAL ENGLISH GRAMMAR COURSE! INVEST IN A COPY OF THE PHYSICIAN'S DESK REFERENCE! THAT WAY YOU CAN AT LEAST CORRECTLY SPELL THE NAMES OF THE COUNERFEIT PILLS YOU ARE PEDDLING!Ok. Now I feel better. Edited October 30, 2008 by irregularjoe
bozodog
Errr, actually, they misspell on purpose to get past filters. The grammar? Well that sucks. Edited October 30, 2008 by bozodog
JDoors
I do believe they intentionally misspell the topic to get past filters, but if I ever opened one I'd expect the body of the message to be in Chinglish too. My ISP has a "known spam" box that over the years I've come to trust enough that I have it automatically delete everything that goes into it. I haven't seen one of those kinds of spam in a long time. irregularjoe
OK, that makes sense. I didn't think about that. Serves me right for never paying attention to junk mail.I'm still wondering though: Who would actually open this email crap? Or worse yet, actually BUY something. Someone that realizes that the heading is skewed and the ad is manipulated to get around the spam filters , but hopes to reap the benifits of cheap questionable drugs anyway?Or someone that is too stupid to even see the problem?I DO understand the insidious natare of spam. I realize that spammers are content with a very small percentage of return. But they have to have SOME demographic in mind. No?What do you think?Joe Edited October 31, 2008 by irregularjoe
JDoors
The odds are with them I guess. A bajillion e-mails only requires a teensy percentage of replies to make a buck, or, more likely, to infect computers with bots, or worse. But I'm with ya, WHO IS that teensy percentage? Kids with access to mommy and daddy's credit cards? First time computer owners? Horny old men?

I mean, who wouldn't want to see what that was all about [LOL].Here's a wiki on spam I thought to check out
