Hi, i have a problem with my pc, it keeps shutting every program down on it's own... like when it wants to....

i have installed windows on it like 8 times in 3 weeks thats how bad it is... just wondering what the problem could be... and hopefully you guys can help..

i am running windows xp professional, service pack 2.

i have a 1.73 ghz processor and 896 mb or ram and a 111gb hdd

Ok, well.. let's get started on a list of things to try..

it's a tough question to answer just off the top of my head, since it can be caused by so many things.

1) check your memory, bad memory will cause random crashes like that 9/10

2) check your hdd...

3) make sure your windows install cd is good... if it's retail, oem, or burned from an *.iso make sure it's not corrupted

4) what programs do you install as part of your routine re-installs..anything that monitors memory or "optimizes" windows may be the culprit.. i never recommend using any memory optimization programs..they're often more trouble than they're worth.

That's the immediate methods that come to mind..not sure what else could be causing it.. work your way down the list, post the progress if it doesn't help... maybe someone will come up with another theory...
