Bubba Bob
Alright, hopefully someone here can help me with this. Vehicle: 72 Ford MaverickProblem: Pulls to the Left - Amplified When BrakingI pulled the front left drum. (yes, for you "young-uns", drums in the front) The shoes were *mostly* intact, and the cylinder had a small leak. Rebuilt the cylinder and put new shoes on. Put it all back together and took it for a drive. Ran straight and true. Parked it for the night. Got back in this morning, and the darn thing is pulling again! I took off the right drum and put new shoes on. Still pulling. Took the left drum back off - Shoes were NOT too tight. Now, sometimes it will pull to the left, other times it wont. It makes no difference whether the brakes are warmed up or not. I thought the cylinder was sticking, but like I said when I pulled the drum the second time the shoes were not too tight. Any ideas? bozodog
Tie rod ends, center control link.... Take it up to Midas or wherever for a look see and FREE estimate.
TheTerrorist_75
Are the diameter of the tires the same and fully inflated? Even 1/2" difference in tire size on the same "axle" will cause a car to pull. Try swapping the tires side to side or front to rear and see if the pull switches. Could also be a broken cord or an improperly cured tire. Is the front end aligned?
Bubba Bob
I replaced both tie rod ends, then had it aligned two days ago. Me and the tech were under the car for a while trying to figure out why it's pulling. He was also clueless. We swapped the front and rear tires. All tires are the same and virtually brand new. gmonroe2
Bubba Bob you might want to check the rubber brake hoses on the front brakes,if one is "balloning" it will cause a brake pull The right front is most likely the culprit
