psyk0tic
Hello, It's been a while since I've posted here, which is a good thing seeing that the fixes you provided last time were extremely helpful. However, as of late my computer has begun to run extremely sluggish, and slow, with quick freezes every so often. I do not recall installing anything new, but I do share the computer with my parents who are extremely computer illiterate. It might be possible that either of them may have contracted something from the web. In addition to this, my Windows partition has gotten filled to the max, with only 150MB free out of 15GB. I rarely install programs on that partition, and very rarely save any files. Every week or so, I'll receive the "Disk space dangerously low!" message, I'll free up about 600MB, and then get the same message a few days later. I have run Spybot S&D, AVG, Ad-Aware, and my Avast! virus scan performing full system scans in each situation, coming up with little more than saved cookies, and what appeared to be some harmless spyware. With that being said I'll post my HJT and see if anything can be deciphered from it. I thank you in advance for your time!Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1Scan saved at 2:58:33 AM, on 3/17/2008Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600)MSIE: Internet Explorer v7.00 (7.00.6000.16608)Running processes:C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\aswUpdSv.exeC:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashServ.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\LogiShrd\LVMVFM\LVPrcSrv.exeC:\PROGRA~1\COMMON~1\AOL\ACS\acsd.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\AppleMobileDeviceService.exeC:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5\guard.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\LogiShrd\LVCOMSER\LVComSer.exeC:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exeC:\WINDOWS\wanmpsvc.exeC:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashMaiSv.exeC:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashWebSv.exeF:\Program Files\iPod\bin\iPodService.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\Ati2evxx.exeC:\WINDOWS\Explorer.EXEC:\WINDOWS\SOUNDMAN.EXEC:\PROGRA~1\ALWILS~1\Avast4\ashDisp.exeC:\Program Files\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\jusched.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86\3\hpztsb10.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\Logitech\G-series Software\LGDCore.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\AOL\1187639109\ee\AOLSoftware.exeC:\Program Files\Microsoft IntelliPoint\ipoint.exeC:\Program Files\Logitech\QuickCam\Quickcam.exeC:\Program Files\Common Files\LogiShrd\LComMgr\Communications_Helper.exeF:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunesHelper.exeC:\Program Files\Google\Google Talk\googletalk.exeC:\Program Files\The Weather Channel FW\Desktop Weather\DesktopWeather.exeC:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\MsnMsgr.ExeF:\Program Files\AIM\aim.exeC:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exeF:\Program Files\Spybot - Andro1d
Nice job your log looks clean! How is it running? Please use the following suggestion to help prevent reinfection. Also, you may delete any tools I had you download during the cleaning process.Reset and Re-enable your System Restore to remove infected files that have been backed up by Windows. The files in System Restore are protected to prevent any programs from changing those files. This is the only way to clean these files: (You will lose all previous restore points which are likely to be infected)Now we need to make a new System Restore Point for your PC, please do the followingClick Start, Settings, Control PanelDouble-click the System iconClick the Performance tab, File System, Troubleshooting tabCheck "Turn off System Restore" and click "Apply". Please give a moment as it will delete the old System Restore pointsThen uncheck "Turn off System Restore" which will create a new System Restore pointClick OKI highly recommend downloading the following programs, to keep malware of your computer to begin with. The following is a list of tools and utilities that I like to suggest to people. This list is full of great tools and utilities to help you understand how you got infected and how to keep from getting infected again.Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware - A very powerful tool which searches and kills malware that infects your system. SpywareBlaster - Great prevention tool to keep malware from installing on your system.**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**SpywareGuard - Works as a Spyware "Shield" to protect your computer from getting malware in the first place.**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**IE-SpyAd - Puts over 5000 sites in your restricted zone so you'll be protected when you visit innocent-looking sites that aren't actually innocent at all.**Tutorial on installing & using this product can be found HERE**ATF Cleaner - Cleans temporary files from IE and Windows, empties the recycle bin and more. Great tool to help speed up your computer and knock out malware that like to reside in the temp folders.Antivirus Program An Antivirus program is a must in today's digital world! I recommend avast! 4 Home Edition, AVG, or Anti-Vir. DO NOT install more than one Antivirus program. They will conflict, and provide less protection, not more.Firewall A firewall is definitely a must have to protect your computer from hackers. I recommend Comodo, Online Armor, or Outpost.**Tutorial on Firewalls can be found HERE**Windows Updates - It is very important to make sure that both Internet Explorer and Windows are kept current with the latest critical security patches from Microsoft. To do this just start Internet Explorer and select Tools > Windows Update, and follow the online instructions from there. You must stay on top of your updates at all times, for the above mentioned applications. It is vitally important to stay on top of your critical updates provided by Microsoft. And finally a little How did I get infected in the first place?(by Tony Klein)Good luck and safe surfing

psyk0tic
http://www.pcpitstop.com/techexpress.asp?id=CE9STWBLM6GSPL9G is the link. looks to be running decently. just did a defrag check, and apparently my c: drive is 48% fragmented... i think after i get it defragged it may pick up a bit. rescanned with avast!, avg, SBs&d, all clean. i think the problem now is just the lack of storage space on the drives. i appreciate all the help you've provided! Andro1d
PCPitStop noted several things that you can do to improve the shape your computer is in.Pay particular attention to these items:• Upgrade disk space (Drive C): You have very little disk space. Try to free up some space by uninstalling programs that you no longer use.• Defragment files (Drive C)Defragmenting is a must. It's one of the large reasons for system slowdowns. I use Diskeeper Lite to defragment. It is the trial version of Diskeeper, and you can use it forever. I recommend installing it and defragmenting as soon as possible
