Laptop Connected To Tv...one Problem, Though

...the resolution on the TV is too big!

It's very hard to see the text on the TV because, even though the TV is at a 1024x768 like my laptop monitor is, it's just too big!

Is there any way I can lower the resolution on my TV without interfering with the laptop monitor?

I have an ATi Mobility Radeon 9000. Connection is by S-Video.

part of the problem may be using svideo, it does not designed for hi-def video. Does your tv have a vga connection, if so you may want to use that. It will givce you a clear picture.

I was assuming you have a hi-def tv, is that correct?

I don't have an HDTV in this room. It's a standard def flat screen tube TV. I think it's 24". There's nothing in the menu to change anything. I can only get the TV to 800x600 mode and that's still too big.

Do you have screen size adjustments in your graphics settings. 1024x768 is the max res usable on old school CRT's so you should be good.

I used to watch my anime on TV with my laptop (27" Sanyo FlatScreen CRT and an older 27" RCA Standard CRT). All I did was hook it up with my old laptop (that ran 1024x768 standard) and set the ATI drivers to clone the display. From there I went to the TV display adjustments in the ATI menu and adjusted the size and position of the screen.

On my current laptop (runs 1280x800 widescreen standard) I had to go into the Intel graphics setting, set the TV as an independent secondary display set at 1024x768. I moved my media player over to the TV and picked a full screen anime and adjusted the size and position until I could see everything and felt comfortable with the position.
