deaf_girl
Yesterday one of my WD My Book 500GB external HDD crashed or something. When I power it on, everything seems fine until I try and copy anything off the drive. I get a System Tray Pop-up that says "Windows - Delayed Write Failed"It's still under warranty but I'd like to get my stuff off before I return it. Is this possible? deaf_girl
Thanks for the quick responses. I turned off the - Enable write caching on the disk, and am able to pull off the data I need.Does this mean my drive isn't dying or do I need to return it to WD for a new one? isteve
Can you try the drive on a different computer? And have you used other drives with the computer you have now?
deaf_girl
I tried it on my roommates computer and it runs really slow.
garmanma
I noticed in a couple of other forums, some peopl are experiencing problems with My Books that were not the user's fault. I'd definitly return itMark Edited December 7, 2007 by garmanma
deaf_girl
I got it from Best Buy 3 1/2 months ago. Return policy is 30 days.I'm going to have to go through WD
TheTerrorist_75
I would still try hooking it up as a slave internally.
deaf_girl
I finally got everything off of the drive and now I'm going to wipe it clean and see if I can return it to Best Buy (with receipt). If not I'll start a RMA request in with Western Digital. If I don't get anywhere with that, then I'll open up the case and check it out.I'll let you know.
