a lady friend

is having lap top problems

the floppy cannot be removed from the carriage drive.

i have a feeling the floppy is the wrong size for the drive

on this laptop

the drive can be removed

any one had this trouble if so how do i fix it

yes that did it i used a flat butter knife

and pushed it in under the floppy

and i heard a click and the floppy came out

so the knife must have

tripped some thing to make it come out

as ime not a user of laptops

i appreciate the tip

i have been informed the toshiba

will need a new floppy drive

one Q

i dont see a cd rom on the dam, thing

if this dosent have a cd rom

how do they install windows this has windows 2.000

is the cd rom an external drive

Many possiblities marty.

It could be they just imaged one install to all the hard drives then installed the drives in the laptops. No need to have anything but the hard drive that way.

They could have used an external drive and boot floppy with appropriate drivers (IE similar to the apricorn laptop upgrade kit where there is a usb enclosure to put your new drive in , and a boot floppy / cd to run which has the drivers and cloning software)

They could use a network boot floppy to boot it and access a networked computer which has the needed copy of the windows installer.

Vista can be installed from a flash drive (USB) if your bios supports USB booting.
