mikex Posted November 26, 2007 Report Share Posted November 26, 2007 Does the floppy move up like it is trying to come out? The metal slide protecting the magnetic disk my be bent slighty. If you really need to, the following method works well even without a drive. I have done it with XP several times. No need to have anything but the hard drive that way.They could have used an external drive and boot floppy with appropriate drivers (IE similar to the apricorn laptop upgrade kit where there is a usb enclosure to put your new drive in , and a boot floppy / cd to run which has the drivers and cloning software)They could use a network boot floppy to boot it and access a networked computer which has the needed copy of the windows installer.Vista can be installed from a flash drive (USB) if your bios supports USB booting.
