deaf_girl
A friend asked me to clean her computer since she let her A/V expire 3 month ago. I installed AVG 7.5 and am in the process of scanning now.So far it has found like 6 Trojans and 3 viruses. I noticed that they are all in the folders, System Information/restore. Does this mean that when I restart the PC that they are going to reinstall?I want to restart the computer in Safe Mode to run the A/V again
shanenin
I think those are system restore points. Those viruses will only be activated if you restore to an earlier state. If you turn system restore off then on again it will delete all of the restore points(with the viruses).
TheTerrorist_75
They would only be reactivated if you use System Restore. You should clean out all of the restore points by shutting System Restore down then rebooting. Restart System Restore once it has been cleaned.
deaf_girl
Thanks. Is that the same for malware (like Hotbar)
TheTerrorist_75
Thanks. Is that the same for malware (like Hotbar)Make sure you have removed any malware programs such as Hotbar from Add/Remove programs plus any leftover files/folders. You should probably post a HJT log to make sure all is cleaned out.
