shanenin
I have always told clients that they usually got infected by agreeing to and installing a bad program/executable. I have been hesitant to believe simply going to a website without manually installing anything could cause a problem. How does a drive by install work? Do these only work on unpatched(no service packs) computers?edit added later//Doesn't windows always prompt you before any install is initiated? Matt
There are the kind where the user is "tricked" into installing something malicious. There are also downloads that require no user-interaction at all. These usually enter the user's computer by means of exploits in the browser, email client, OS, etc. Windows Metafile vulnerability is a good example.
