garmanma
The most important thing to do is to quit using that computer until the decision is made on how to repair it. The more you use the computer it will possibly overwrite over what you needMark
TheTerrorist_75
Did you check the Recycle Bin? Right click on it then click Open. If the file is there right click on it then click Restore. This program works quite well but needs to be run from a hard drive with a working OS.PC INSPECTORâ„¢ File Recovery 4.x
shanenin
I have used both "recovermyfiles" and "easeus data recovery", the both offer a tryit free versions that will let you see if it will recover the files before you buy it. They seemed very similar. As pointed out, you may want to quit using that hardrive and run the program from another windows install.

Rancho
You can also try Stellar Phoenix Windows Data Recovery Software. It worked for both FAT & NTFS file system. It is helpful in recovering data which has been lost due to accidental format, software malfunction, viruses or even sabotage. Download the demo to try the software from: http://www.stellarinfo.com/partition-recovery.htm
