I'm neither rich (far from it) nor famous (in famous, maybe) and I got treatment for cancer so ... I'm not sure what you mean.

in my country some drugs are susidised

by the gov

and these miracle cures arent one of them

there has to be a certain success rate before that

particular drug comes under that reagime

so you either have to be able to afford it

or die

and guess who are the ones who cant afford it

the problem

is what drug qualifies for funding

in nz cancer is about 1.2 in a population of four and a half million

and the funding is appropiate to the percentage

but deseases like diabetes for instances

is about fifety four percent

but has the same funding as cancer

dosent that look out of proportion

dosent that look as tho the rich can afford

to live

and the ones who cant afford to buy the drug

cant afford to live

Well, I'm not going to debate the "fairness" of it, but it's been that way since civilization began. The ruling class and wealthy could afford better care and nutrition, the poor got by, or they didn't. Even socialist countries, where everyone is supposed to have equality, have certain classes of people who get better care and nutrition while the "peasants" toil away with less.

The problem that I have is that there are so many people DYING of cancer and cancer related illnesses that it makes me wonder - I mean, there is a whole debate about stem cell research, and what that could mean to the medical community and people at large - However, G.W.B. does not want to fund this because of the fact that stem cells come from embryos.

Cancer research needs to continue - there are way too many people dying because of it, and I have lost good friends and family members because of cancer - if we could get cancer under control, there could be alot of people that could benefit.

We spend BILLIONS on iraq, and drugs and everything - and I think its time that this stuff be researched - would like to see cancer irrdicated like polio was

GW won't fund embryonic stem cell rsearch because adult stem cells can be obtained easily and with out controversy. They also have led to more "break-threws" than ESC. In fact, I dont believe Embryonic Stem Cells have led to ANYTHING of use (I may be wrong though)...
