TheTerrorist_75
I don't mind the snow as long as it doesn't come down like it did here in March two years ago.Just up the road from me in March 2004

bozodog
Heh heh, both I think. But if this weather is the worse in the nation... Everyone is really having great weather, cause it's not all that bad. The weatherguessers are getting worse and worse about being Chicken Little and almost sending a panic through the community. Monday: Occasional snow showers. Cold. High 24F. Winds SW at 10 to 20 mph. Chance of snow 60%. 1 to 2 inches of snow expected. Monday night: Flurries and snow showers this evening becoming more scattered later. Low 19F. Winds W at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of snow 60%.What's wrong or bad about this forcast? It's December, in SW Michigan.
TheTerrorist_75
I am looking at the lake effect band heading my way on NWS. Looks about seven inches headed for me with wind chill at 11F. Nice weather to install a hot tub at the job I'm doing. It is going to be cold on that deck overlooking the lake.Nuts. I drove over to the spa joint and asked when they were going to deliver this morning. They said no way this morning. Must be they're afraid of a little snow. hehehehe Edited December 4, 2006 by TheTerrorist_75
blim
Sultan, with the Detroit Lions, they don't need to declare them the worst NFL team in the Nation, that's a given! Now, today, Maine was declared as having the Worst Weather in the Nation! Liz

JDoors
... Today it's 42 and it's so windy that I saw a Prius driving up hill. That took a sec, but when I got it I laughed out loud. Looks like whatever got left on the driveway is stayin' there for the Winter. Doesn't look like it'll warm up much above freezing anytime soon. I'm usually pretty obsessive about clearing everything -- but what-the-hey, I gotta take advantage of gittin' old somehow.
garmanma
Well, we just got the leftovers of what the midwest got. First one of the season It caught all the road crews with their pants down. People are driving like they never seen snow. My wife drives 50 miles to work. Unfortunatly, she's using my daughter's Neon instead of her truck. She did 3 doughnut just going down the side streetMark
TheTerrorist_75
We're getting more white stuff right now. I had to drive in a near white out last night to shoot pool. Between people in front of me tapping their brakes, and a-hole behind me trying to do 60 and a couple of cars coming from the other way with those d@#n blue headlamps blinding me it was a normal first storm drive. My GMC winter rat amazed me the way it handled the slippery roads. I did find out I need to clean and lubricate the door mechanisms. Both doors were stubborn opening once they froze. No wonder so many people break the door handles used on those years GM trucks. I also need to fix my windshield washers.Next week the temperatures are supposed to go back up to the mid 40s with rain. In fact tomorrow it supposedly will hit 40 with rain/snow showers.
JDoors
... I did find out I need to clean and lubricate the door mechanisms. Both doors were stubborn opening once they froze. No wonder so many people break the door handles ... Reminds me of a tip I learned while patrolling the casino's property during the Winter: If your doors are frozen shut see if you can get hold of some windshield washer fluid (maybe keep some in your trunk, or a Good Samaritan may have some). Pour it over the door seals and it'll melt the ice enough for you to open the door.------ So! How cold is it? It's cold. I went out to pick up the paper and there were two helicoptors hovering overhead about a mile away. Uh-oh -- Gotta be news crews. Come back inside (the news was already on) and wait for it ... It's SO cold one of the town's sewage treatment plants collapsed. Not sure what happened yet, and no mention of any injuries. They kept showing pictures taken from the helicoptors of an expanding river of, uh-hem, steaming sludge. What a way to make the news. Glad I wasn't eating breakfast. TheTerrorist_75
i'm going through all of the old tips to keep car/truck doors from freezing. These include placing a magnet over the lock opening to stop the water getting in and freezing, rubbing corn oil over the doors gaskets so they don't stick, keeping windshield washer solvent with anti-freeze in a spray bottle in the trunk or box to remove ice buldup and mix 3 parts white vinegar to 1 part water in a spray bottle to apply to the outside of the windows, which should prevent frost buildup. Must not forget to clean your wiper blades with undiluted vinegar so you don't get those black streaks. Naturally there is the cleaning of the mechanisms with WD-40 then using a graphite lubricant so they work trouble free.
