cardlady
For no apparent reason my DVD CD burner draw will not openThe light goes on and you can see it move slightly trying to open but nothing happens. There is nothing in it...it is only a couple of years old and was put in after I had the computer.Any suggestions.
marko_tomas13
take a paperclip and unravel it until the first inch or so is relatively straight.....then stick it into the little hole on your drive (usually near the volume control on most).that will manually release the tray and you will be able to get your cd out.EDITin case you're worried, i forgot to mention this will not ruin your drive lol (unless something physical is wrong with it) ie wont mess it up more
cardlady
Thank you so much for your help, it worked. There wasn't any CD stuck in it, but it looks like I will have to do this manually as I tried just pushing the button after opening it manually and it still won't open by itself.I appreciate the help.Do you know if opening it manually from now on will damage it in the long run.Again thanks for your help. Dragon
opening it manually should only be used in emergencies, have you tried to reboot your computer or disconnect and reconnect the power cable for it?if you have you might just have to go out and get a new one. those things don't last forever. I have had my computer for 2 years now, and I have to replace my regular cd-rom already because it won't read or work all the time. Unfortunately it could be something on your motherboard too.
