shanenin Posted October 17, 2006 Report Share Posted October 17, 2006 some computers support "wake up on lan" . This allows your network card to power up your system. You could check in the bios if that feature is enabled. That option will probably be under something like "power settings". Assumbing you have that option(you can disable it) enabled, a guess could be a faulty ethernet card(as you mentioned) would be causeing it to start. Quote Link to post Share on other sites

I take it this wasn't a legit install if you didn't get the CDs. If so your PC probably isn't updated and is vulnerable to malware. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
