  1. Interesting observation, Mike. I just returned from holidays last night; I was absent for two days. I only had 25 spam messages in my gmail spam folder. I usually get a lot more than that.
  2. My goodness Pat!! I thank God that you had the strength and courage to not let your spirit be crushed by your ex! I'm so happy that you had the fortitude to get yourself out of that situation! My wife's Father is a very strange and abusive man, he terrorized my wife when she was a young child. To this day my wife's Mother lives a neurotic lifestyle with this creep. It makes me feel great when I hear stories about women that have the courage and insight to know when it is time to leave a miscreant!
  3. Hi robroy and shanenin! Thanks for the welcome home, it is good to be back:-) I haven't traveled by train since I was a boy, it was a very pleasant experience. We traveled through a snowy mountain wilderness over rugged terrain. My three year old found the experience to be very engaging. I think I'm going to travel by train again; you don't have the stress of long distance driving.
  4. Hi Pat and Liz, Had a good shopping trip, it is good to be back home again. I had a quite relaxing time. Happy New Year:-)
  5. I'll be off-line for a few days, I should be back late Thursday evening or Friday morning. We are going on a short train trip and staying in a nearby town which is about 100 miles away. We'll be staying in a hotel, rent a car, and make the obligatory pilgrimage to Walmart. I'll see you folks soon. Take it easy:-) hitest
  6. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha, that is classic!! LMAO!
  7. down...................as in receiving a dressing down from a superior:-)
  8. I found this site on the Internet which has a listing of a site where you can download a root kit detector onto your Linux box. The package they had listed didn't work for me, but, I found a slackware and debian package that did work. This is a commandline utility that'll check to see if you've been owned by some miscreant. I scanned my Linux boxes and I'm clean. Very cool little utility. There are other rootkit utilities out there, this is one of them:-) rkhunter
  9. Happy New Year, Besttechie.net:-)
  10. Happy Birthday, Mychal007!!! I hope you have a great day:-)
  11. Heh, you can tell it is the holidays, I've got way too much time on my hands. I just blew out one of my Slackware boxes and decided to give Debian another shot. I am pleasantly surprised, the text based installer is much smarter this time and did an outstanding job of identifying my hardware, including my new 17" LCD monitor. I ran Debian Etch beta 3 awhile ago and it was a bit buggy. This is Etch release candidate 1. Very smooth, very nice.
  12. Wow!! That is a frightening picture of police corruption, Pete_C!! People in your vicinity just accept that the police can and will bang down their doors at any time? Has anyone tried to pursue this further and take it to the DA? That sounds more like something out of South America. I seem to recall that you live in Texas, Pete_C. I hope you're having a great Christmas, man!
  13. My God, JDoors, that is horrific!! Those poor children!! I hope they lock up that miscreant forever!
  14. Whoa, scary stuff, Marty!! I'm happy you're okay, man! Over these holidays I'm trying to get some exercise, get a bit more healthy.
