You're going to have to get use to it hitest, linux is on its way to becoming the new windows. In a few years 95% of all distros will be dumbed down to the point that we won't want to use them. To compete with windows, linux needs to be dumbed down for the ignorant masses. If things keep going the way they are, in a few years the only "hardcore distros" will be Slackware,Gentoo, and Arch, and the BSD's.
