  1. I don't sign my credit card on the back and have no problems whatsoever presenting my driver licence for signature verification when asked. (I know that this is not an answer to your question...but, I just wanted to throw that out..) If the card gets stolen and I am not aware of it, it will be a little harder for someone to use it. (I hope!)

  2. Sorry, but had to chuckle when I looked at the last picture. The shovel stuck in the snow like somebody had taken a break after shoveling ALL that snow is funny. Now...I'm not saying shoveling snow is funny...

I thot they said on the Weather Channel this morning that some roads are closed yet. Maybe heard it wrong...5AM is not my best hour.

Usually the "Banana Belt", which is what one of the eastern South Dakota TV station calls the Rapid City area, has better weather than us, but NOT this year. We (eastern SD, southwest Minnesota) had a pretty mild winter and not much snow...for which I am very grateful!

Sure hope it's not gonna be another 1997, with all that flooding!

  3. Nope, can't because they took away our Internet (cuz the guys were looking at porn). Know it was the guys because there are very few women control room operators where I work (3 women and dozens of men). And...they know exactly who it was, but ONCE AGAIN they punish everyone for what a few do and don't even talk to the naughty ones. Blah to them!

Oh well...I'l do my surfing at home where I can go where I want, when I want for as long as I want in peace.

  4. Just had the same trojan (8 hits) on my sister-in-laws computer this morning. We ran PandaActiveScan online scanner and it took care of all of them.

I'm not really sure how to put a link in this message (yeah, I'm a noob), but if you Google for PandaActiveScan, you will find the link very easily.

    http://www.pandasoftware.com/activescan/co...n_principal.htm

That's the URL for the online scanner I copied and pasted, but like I said, I'm not sure if that's how you put a link into this message.

Hope this helps. All I know if the Panda online scanner took care of the trojans she had.

  5. Sounds like the place where I work. College degree is a BIG deal here and most of the jobs HAVE to have experience within the plant (a corn wet mill) to make an intelligent decision. I've trained a LOT of people here, and trust me, college degrees aren't what is needed for the job. Willingness to learn and common sense are critical. The lab techs just follow written procedures or are shown how to test the samples and the supervisors, well...they are hired (from outside our plant) without any knowledge of how our system works and then try to make decisions! It can get quite funny at times, now that I think of it. Guess they don't realize that we operators are the ones that make them look good. (Well, maybe they did learn a lesson about the supervisors because the last three they hired were from our plant.) And the engineers keep telling us how stuff "should" work because it all looks good on paper.

I just don't understand why industries/companies don't see the potential in people with good work experience. Obviously if a person has the skills required, he or she would be able to learn whatever was necessary to do the job without having a degree.

Don't let it get ya down...you know your skills and potential and in time someone else will see it too!

  6. If you guys have been over to Tech Support at G4, you probably know this already but...seems that some trolls are trying to gather up troops to get Pete kicked off as moderator. There's a petition to sign to show Pete your support if you're interested.

That just might be the last straw for me as far as G4 is concerned. I'm just not interested in the direction TSS (the show) has taken and I'm almost afraid to ask a question over at the forums for fear of having someone call be a dumb something or another.

Thankfully, this is such a good site here and everyone is so nice and helpful. That's a BIG thank you to all of ya!

  7. Thanks for all your suggestions and the links! And I do mean that sincerely.

Sounds like LeRoy will be leaving in a couple of weeks. Kinda tough on our team at work to have to see him go. We are located in a smallish city, sw MN, and you know how small towns are, everyone has known everyone forever; that's the tough part, when it's on a personal level like that. Be a lot different if it was a project we had decided to do to support our troops over there without having a specific person in mind.

  8. Hey all...one of my co-workers is being deployed to Iraq soon and some of us are putting together a care package for him to take along. (We are also going to send him a package at Christmas time.)

What I was wondering is, do any of you have any ideas what we could include in the care package? So far we have thought of: baggies (keep the dust out of stuff), lip balm, phone cards, playing card, puzzle books. Any other ideas???

    Thanks for your suggestions!
