  2. 512MB PC2700 CL2.5 184-Pin DIMM.....Kingston model number KVR333/512R
  3. That supply should be just fine. Fortron is a very good brand. If you are currently using integrated video, that would explain the discrepancy in your RAM. yes i am using intergrades graphics, but other games i own work fine, its just Valve games. but, i dont care, as soon as i get that card and PS battlefeild 2 and Fear are my games of choice, thanks. i will put the order in today, i hope its compatable
  4. its a new board, ive never even been in bios to even SET a password, but im not sure if i need to get into it TODAY but when i install my PS and video card i will need to, i think...anyway. its only valve that crahses, COD demo, halo, and UT2k4 run fine, actually better with the new ram, its just valve games.....
  5. so i want to get into BIOS and i do what i have to, and it said to enter password...i never set a bios password....ever...so i dont know what the password was, and i am trying to aviod moving sockets and shit like that...any ideas? also after installing my new ram i am having problems runnin Valve games, i mean, CSS HL2DM HL2 ect ect, is all choppy and the sound is all funked up and i dont even know whats goin on, this has never happend before, so i dont know what it is. thanks again, you people are my saviors.
  6. Amen - I trust Aspire, Cooler Master, Thermaltake, and a handful more - don't get cheated on a crappy power supply On the show Call for Help - Leo talked about how cheapy Taiwanese power supply companies will produce about 1000 PSU's and then test to find one rated at 300W so they can sell them all rated for 300. So stick with brand names. By the way, what type of RAM did you get? how is this one? seems reasonable (i know nothing about power supplies) ...oh and i got 2x512mb Kingston mem. i love it, only problem is i am only reading 960mb but it it running great, thank you for all your hel
  7. ok , i got new ram for christmas and this 1gb is running amazing. now i plan on buying this(EDIT: i just clicked the link and it said it is no longer available for sale, so now i have to search for another one. arrgh. ) with the money i got but i am also needing to upgrade my power supply to run this beast, now i have a "generic" 250W suppy and i want to upgrade to 400W. i saw soem one newegg for like, 15-25 bucks, pretty cheap no money is not a option, but im not sure which one to get, are there special specs that need to be compatable with the rest of my comp on the PS? i see all these numbe
  8. well i am currently lookin at specs from the 6800 and the 6600GT from newegg and it seems to me that the 6600GT has overall greater specs and max than the 6800, so i am at a loss
  9. ok, i want to get a 6600GT or a 6800...im not sure which is better...it hasto be AGP ...the main reason i am upgrading is to play BF2 (along with others) but i found this on a BF2 site (not EA sponsered) Video Cards Battlefield 2 only supports the following video cards:- Radeon X700 (PCIe) Radeon X600 (PCIe) GeForce 6600 (PCIe) GeForce PCX 5900 (PCIe) GeForce 5800 Series (AGP) ATI Radeon X800 XT Platinum Edition ATI Radeon X800 PRO ATI Radeon 9800 Series ATI Radeon 9600 Series ATI Radeon 9550 (RV350LX) ATI Radeon 9500 / 9700 Series ATI Radeon 8500 Series ATI Radeon X300 Series NVidia GeForce
  10. yes thank you i saw that, and thats where all my confusion is coming from...but beside the point...whats the differnce between PCI slots and PCi express....because i GUESS i have PCi slots but i dont see any cards online that are PCI...only PCI express...so whats the difference and is there any good PCI cards?
  11. yes i believe so...but this is bizarre, im gettin different specs from different HP web sites. one site it tells me i have no PCI slots, another it tells me i only have AGP...i did the crucial scan and it says i only have AGP too...so i dont know until i open it up once more tomorrow follow up: whats would be a better graphics card..PCI or AGP
  12. Hi Grundlelove Your machine supports a maximum of 1G of PC2700 DDR SDRAM, so just make sure you get a brand name stick of the same type. Your machine also has 3 integrated PCI slots, so you don't only have just AGP, so you can go with a PCI graphics card if you wish, but the 8X AGP would be better. It will also support either ATI or Nvidia, so again whichever you choose will work. ummm...i think you might be a little confused...my computer hols a max of 2 gig of ram and it has to PCI slots, which is why i am wanting a AGP...im not sure where your got your info but a link would help, everythin
  13. thank you that helped me a lot and my rents are out as i am typin this gettin it (1 gig stick)for my christmas present but a follow up question....i am also gettin a new graphics card and i only have AGP slots, so i told my father (old school comp nerd) to get me a Nvidia 6800 or a Nvidia 6600 GT both AGP compatable....but on that site you told me i had it scan my computer and it reccomended only ATi cards for my system..is that because they are sponsered by them or just have an agreement to opnly reccomend ATi? i mean, my computer is all Nvidia anyways so i dont see the problem. anyway, tha

  19. i was wondering if you could reccommend me a good graphics card to get for an upgrade. i got a HP pavillion ...i dont know full specs but i do know this. its got 512mb ddr sd ram..amd athalon XP 2800+ and i dont feel like typing all this out so ill give you a creen shot: screen shot i would prefer it to be Nvidia, and good enough to play some next gen games like AOE III or FEAR or perhaps BF2? thank you Grundle
