  1. alright...I can print a test page just fine from my xerox menu...but when I try to print an image, nothing, it shoots out a blank page. So it can't be anything wrong with the printer...
  2. Not a stupid question, after all I am blonde (Okay trying to find some humour in this!) yes I've rebooted....many times lol....the computer is now communicating with my xerox, but it's still not printing..There is a box that comes up saying what page it's printing and what % is done and it says it's printing but it doesn't do anything..doesn't lift the paper, nothing..maybe something is physically wrong with it altho I can't imagine what, I haven't moved it and it worked perfectly 2 weeks ago on my old computer
  3. That's right, that's what I did the first time.....then I uninstalled the software (for both printers) and reinstalled it (all correctly by having no cords plugged in, the hub on the right spot, rebooted etc etc....) and the 2nd time I clicked Yes and it said everything was installed correctly but nothing will work. When I try to print on the HP it says the driver is missing...when I try to print on the Xerox, it says it's printing but nothing comes out. All my ink are brand new cartridge$$
  4. I downloaded a couple of the other drivers from that site and none of them work Thanks for everyone's help .....
  5. Geesh I feel so stupid today....I signed up , found the drivers but when I went to download it nothing happened..nothing popped up to "download" nothing, ugh....I do NOT have my popup stopper on?? help??
  6. I can't get my xerox printer/fax/photocopier WorkCentre M940 to work either....this is a new computer with XP and it's the first time I've tried to use the printers with it....I am using a hub too (belkin data switch), they both worked fine when connected to my ancient win98 computer....everything is installed fine, and it reads fine when I do the "tests" but it won't print when I bring up a picture....this is really aggravating, I have an entire weeks worth of daycare lessons to print for next week The xerox is the only one showing as an installed printer...the HP doesn't even show up altho
  7. Yes I've gone to the HP page........I insert my disk.....I go to Start>Control Panel>Printers and Hardware>Printers and Faxes>Add Printer It's not in the list, so I click HP and then Have disk....I point to where the disk is in the CD Rom drive, and it says the driver is not digitally signed...I tried to point to "have disk" again and it does nothing. Everything I read says that this HP is not compatible wtih XP unless I have an updated driver. Any place I look for a driver says that it's not available for XP......
  8. tried to install my old printer with my new computer and it said that it's not compatible....I need a driver for XP...it suggested I get it from HP site or my XP disk. Well I don't have an XP disk because it's a rent-to-own computer (let's not discuss that lol) so we aren't given a disk...HP says to get the driver from my XP disk too, ugh....can anyone help?
  9. Yes I'm blonde......a real blonde. I thought I could just click on the cda file and it would play, no? So basically you mean I have to put the CD in that I burned these onto to play the songs? I'm such a ditz sometimes...I can play mp3s no problem....the cda works great when I put the cd in Thanks
  10. Now that I have my sound fixed (thanks Dragon!) I am unable to play any of my music files that have the .cda extension? I went into folder options and checked to see, and it is associated with Windows Media player, but won't play. windows sounds work and so do mp3 songs...help? Thanks
  11. I luv you!!!!!! Thank you SOOOO much! I've been going crazy and I now have sound you're awesome!!!
  12. well that didn't help, I'm still lost with no sound (ooops this comment is not directed at you dragon...it was for the updated driver that I downloaded, it didn't work...) Trying to roll back and updating the driver you suggested, dragon...I'll be back
  13. Thanks Bearskin.....I did find a driver patch thru google and I'm going to give it a try, as it was reported to fix the Code 10 error. Thanks for trying Velda
  14. Alright I rebooted and it found new hardware, tried to update the drivers and I'm back to square one....no new drivers...won't start error (code 10) and no sound
  15. If you mean windows updates yes...that's about when it happened, which was why I was rebooting. Now as I said I'm not too familiar with XP...I uninstalled it but now how do I reinstall it? I can't find it anywhere now to find a reinstall?? Thanks Velda
  16. I swear I'm going to scream! I just got a new computer (thru rent to own, yes it's under warranty but then I'd be without it for who knows how long ) I went from a 7 year old computer that finally lost sound and colour to a brand new XP computer. I rebooted the other day and now I have NO sound. My daughter was also playing her music quite loud prior too, but we've tried 3 sets of speakers. I also cannot get sound from plugging in headphones both in the back and in the front. I'm not to familiar with XP yet so I'm not sure where to go to check things out. I did find Start>Control Panel&g
  17. well since Kat took MY first secret (yes seriously, only it's not really a secret to those who know me LOL) 1. I hate olives and gag just at the thought of them 2. I'm afraid of the dark...don't ever watch the movie Darkness.... 3. I'm addicted to reality tv shows and the OC. (some of this might not be strange to most, but I'm nearly 40 years old lol)

    About U?

hopped over from that "other" site I live in canada with my husband and 4 kids. I've done home daycare for 14 years. My passion is cross stitching (for which I use the computer ALOT!) and I moderate a cross stitch board elsewhere on the web for the last 7 years. I love cats and angels and the colour purple, not necessarily in that order. I just got a brand new computer upgrading from win98 with 4GB to XP and 80GB so I'm still in speed and storage shock Thanks for the message and so glad I found you all over here
