Changing to the forum format used by Bleeping Computer or Windows 8 Tutorials would be better.

Hi there,
I'm running windows 7 and as of a few hours ago I can access some websites and not others.
Among those I cannot access are http://forums.techguy.org/,'>http://forums.techguy.org/, www.deviantart.com, www.photobucket.com and http://www.johnlewis.com/. While some websites partially load - just text based and changing http://forums.techguy.org/ to http://www.forums.techguy.org/ takes it from "Firefox can't find the server at forums.techguy.org." to a version of the webpage just text on a white background.
I have tried both Firefox and Internet Explorer neither of which have proxy settings on them
But I can access eBay, youTube, Facebook and Google.
I have restarted my PC several times
I have run spybot search and destroy with no results,
I have run malware bytes with no results,
I have run avast! scan and an avast! boot time scan with no results
I can ping www.www.forums.techguy.org and www.photobucket.com but www.johnlewis.com and www.deviantart.com time out.
I have attached my hijackthis log below.
I have checked the contents oh my hosts file which contained many additions from spybot search and destroy's immunization - I have tried removing all of these to give the default fail which didn't help.
The only thought I did have on what could have caused it was I had avast, spybot and malwarebytes all installed and noticed malwarebytes was blocking avast so uninstalled malwarebytes and at about that time websites stopped loading properly
Thanks for your help
[bI have everything you have,Spybot,avast,Norton,AdAware,etc
I have no problems accessing the sites.]

I'm currently running Windows 7 and I was wondering if Windows 8 will be a worthwhile upgrade for me? I have a good computer, it can handle it spec wise, but I don't have a touch screen which makes me nervous about the new metro user interface.
Do you think it'll be worth upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 8?
Thanks!
I was happy with XP.After years they got the bugs out of it.
Now, Windows 8, same old poop.
Untested by the customers who will find problems & report them to Microsoft who will benefit from the research done by their customers which will save them lots of money from doing the research themselves.
That's been Microft's plan from year 1.
Bottom line---Make money as easily as possible.
EDIT---- I have recieved almost 20 "Updates" on windows 8 in 3 weeks.

Carry a camera with a bright automatic flash.
People know pictures can be used in court.
-
You can press the Windows key and the letter R and the RUN window will pop up ready to use.
-
If you have the Google Toolbar check to see if it's popup blocker is stopping the links from opening in a new window. Also try right clicking on the link(s) and select open in new window.
Thats what I was trying to do. Right click doesn't/didn't show any function for "Open in New Window".
Medab1 gave me a link that works just like the old function that is missing so I will just use that for now.
Thanks for all your help.
You could go to the registry & rename it,"Open In New Window" or whatever,But it really isn't worth the effort.
It works as is.

If RUN is gone & you want to edit the Registry, open the CMD window-
See picture-

Type in regedit & press the Enter key-
See picture-

Registry Editor will open.

Value Name: NoRun
Data Type: REG_DWORD (DWORD Value)
Value Data: (0 = disabled, 1 = enabled)
I saw this & tested it.
I changed the value to 1 in the dword.
I restarted.
RUN was gone.
I changed it back to 0.
I had to reboot twice.
After the first reboot the value was still 1.
I changed it to 0 again.
I rebooted.
RUN was back.
I checked the value & it was set at 0.
Therefore I suspect the correct value for the dword is 0.

Here is a registry edit-Be careful-

If it doesn't work you can delete the new dword value.

I think this link might help--
I just downloaded & merged the reg file & it works.
When you download it,right click it & choose "Merge".
Click OK on the security prompt.
Now when you click on Favorites & right click a link the option to open it in a new window is available.
See picture--

Run is nowhere to be found on that list

The thing about going to a gun dealer is they already have the permits needed to get ammo shipped to them from ammo dealers.
You don't have to deal with a lot of paper-work.
-
Try running sfc /scannow.
There is a space between the c & the /.
Type it in the RUN box & click OK.
You may need the xp CD or recovery disk if it prompts you for it.
-
Glad it worked.

Maybe this--

Make changes & Close IE & reopen it after changes.

I ran the Norton removal tool. I don't know exactly what you mean by the general tab and changing the startup types. I'm in msconfig. Is that right?
Thanks!

A gun show.
Or a local gun dealer.
One who sells older guns.
Or one that sells military guns.(SKS,AKS,Mauser,Springfield,etc.)
Some have cannisters of bullets.(1000 rounds or more)

Use a microphone & windows movie maker.

Wondering, just in case Son decides to update the drivers without telling me beforehand....Inuyasha's second tip involves messing with the registry which scares me to death. Can the Update be "undone" with System Restore?
Thanks,
Liz
