  5. Chuck. A couple things that's happening now. I booted the machine first thing this morning in F8 mode with Networking, (thats the only way I can get online) then I downloaded Winsockfix, and then I rebooted the machine again normally this time, and I was able to get online, but I hadn't installed netsockfix, then I isntalled it (I think) and ran it. It's telling me I'm not online. Then I thought I had better check AVAST, and I did , and its telling me I'm unprotected, then I try to fix it, and its saying the services are not runing. UGH! I'm getting really frustrated coming back and fo
  6. John the Winsock may be corrupt !! Download winsock fix http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html 1.) Download WinsockFix.zip. (by: Option^Explicit) 2.) UnZip WinsockFix.zip (Pay close attention to where the file is extracted to, the desktop is fine or your hijackthis folder or my documents as you can delete it when done) 3.) Run WinsockFix.exe. 4.) Click the Fix button. 5.) WinsockFix will clean up your TCP/IP connection and rebuild the database. After the program is complete, reboot your computer. Lets see if that is the problem !! Chuck So, do you want me to run Winsockfix first th
  7. Chuck, Here's a question for you, If I can get connected under safe mode, then why I can't get on the regular way, unless I do it three times? When I get back in, I'll d/l those programs and post logs. Oh here's a screen shot my problem.
  8. Chuck. I spoke to soon, It won't get on the net in regular mode, only in Safe mode. So, there is got to be something going on right? I'll go do HJT unless you think its not a good idea? I also I took a picture of whats going on and I'll attach it later. John P.S. After rebooting the machine for the third time, I can get on the net in regular mode. So what's going on, any thoughts?
  9. Well, here's an update to my problem. I started the computer this morning, in safe mode with Networking, and low and behold, I can get everything to work, so I rebooted the machine to go directly into Win 7, and after switching Into my profile, I was able to get on the net. So, ( knock on wood) everything seems to be ok. But I still think there might be some spyware, or such. So Chuck should I post a HJT to check?
  10. Chuckie Yup, it's me. . Couple things I sorta left out. The computer is wired into the router, not wireless. But other wireless devices I have work fine. This machine has been working great until the day or so, now it be running really slow, meaning pages would load so and such, and I do have multiple browsers and it's about the same. Also I have two user accounts on the system and both can't run stuff now. (It had one account already on the system, I just added another one for me) Also this is sorta a bad thing to do but, lately I would have hold the power button in to turn of the system be
  11. Hi Guys, been a long time since I was here. Wow. I need your help, My win 7 machine all of a sudden won't open ANYTHING. Down in the systray by the clock, where it shows you are connected wired to a router all I see is a spinning circle.. Any advice would be nice.
  12. Anyone have any thoughts on this video, before I do it?
  13. Hey all, I haven't really messed with the computer lately cause I'm not really sure what to do with it. I have come accross this video from Youtube about this computer, and I'm hesitant as to this really should work. Would you mimd looking at this and tell me, if this guy is crazy or not. John
  14. Hi Mr. President, As you can see by the image there is only one fan. The fan is at the top of Mobo, I just laided out this way. I'll check the HD, and see if I hear anything. There is one thing that I'm sort of concerned about is that there is no POST beeps..
  15. Here's a small update: Got the cover(s) off of it, and it was a pain to remove it, the fan on starts for a split second and stops. The heatsink and CPU are hot to the touch.
  16. Hey all, A friend of mine (same person who had the HP4410t I posted about in the win 7 forum) gave me a a Gateway ZX4300 all-in-on PC to fix, The symptoms were no screen, which I have comfirmed by powering up and their is no POST at all but I do hear the CD and fans spin I think. I have read and saw videos online that this particular model is notorious of having the black screen because of heat issues. I'm curious if anyone here messed with a gateway system with this similar problem and curious if it was a easy fix or not.
  17. Hey Chuck, I have a couple of thoughts about this system that I want bounce these off you and or anyone else. 1) Would removing the battery help any with this problem? 2) How about removing the HD/ramdrive, or change the boot order help?
  18. Chuck, and others. After applying the OTL fix you posted it and after a reboot returns back to with those shortcuts on the desktop, and OTL disapears as well. I'm starting to get to that point where you told me this was a lost cause, I thought it be a easy fix, thinking just to either reformat the hard drive and start from scratch or try to clear cmos, but I guess not eh? its ashamed it's a nice system, it has bunch of I/O connections on it and it seems fast to me. Any other thoughts?

  21. Hey Chuck, thx man for your help, I'm not really sure why the shortcuts won't stay deleted as well, I did try it under safemode, and going back up to regular mode brings it back up,, I did nose around abit and found it does have a ram drive, like you guys THINK it had I also think it has a CD/DVD, but I can't figure out how to pop it open with a key combo. Chuck, after looking through these logs for me, and you still think its a lost cause then let me know, so I can tell the person who owns this about it. They're on vaction for a bit, and so they gave this to me play with til they get back.
  22. So, you think it's a loss cause trying to turn this into a everyday use laptop? I can run HP programs on it about the system if you want me to post the specs of the system? Chuck, do you want me to post OTL or not? John (AKA jsapyta on the defunked G4 forums.)
  23. Hey, I'm still in need of some help, anyone have a suggestion or two?
