How about refurbished? We bought a 22" Mitsubishi Diamond Flat Screen for ~$160. It's been pretty reliable. At the price of the monitor you posted, you can step up to a 22" flat CRT: http://www.azatek.com/details.asp?iid=603 A good 19" CRT comes in at ~$120: http://www.azatek.com/details.asp?iid=742 Otherwise, that's a good looking monitor you posted.

Isn't Slimbrowser just an IE skin/sheller?

I recently upgraded my computer at work. It now has an ECS 760GX-M Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with an AMD Sempron 2600+ processor, and 512MB RAM in an ATRIX (Colors it) CSCI-C8002-A1 case with 400watt PSU. It worked great out of the box, but after plugging my headphones into the audio port in the front of the case, I have problems. I have a 2.1 speaker set from Creative. After plugging into the front port, only the left speaker and the woolfer work. When I try to adjust the balance to the Left, nothing happens, to the right, the sound goes away. I have plugged other speakers and my headphones i

I recently upgraded my PC. I needed a faster processor, so I got a new motherboard and memory to go with it. Also, while I was at it, I found a good computer case and DVD/RW to go with it. Okay, I got a new computer, pretty much. The new items are listed below: ATRIX CSCI-C8002-A1 Beige SECC steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 400W Silent Power Supply - Retail ASUS V9520-X/TD/128 Geforce FX5200 128MB DDR AGP 4X/8X Video Card - OEM pqi POWER Series 512MB 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400 (PC 3200) Unbuffered System Memory Model MD4412UOE ECS 760GX-M Socket 754 SiS 760 GX Micro ATX AMD Motherboard - R

CD burners are $20, DVD burners $40 at NewEgg. Shipping wouldn't bump that up much more.

Really, if you have to upgrade, the video card might be the best bet, unless you have fixed your problems with updated drivers. But if you really need to spend that $400 on your computer, and don't have a 19" LCD monitor yet, what are you waiting for? You can find a really good one for ~$300. Then if you don't have a nice keyboard and mouse, find yourself a nice set with the restof your money. Or, just blow it all on new games. Like someone said above though, your computer is fine as is. Wait until it starts getting old, or you will be throwing bad money after good.

I would go with a new board, except I wouldn't have a computer while I RMAd it (NewEgg). So I would buy a sound card before I did that. I did check the wireing, and everything is plugged in correctly. I'm going to look for a good sound card to replace the onboard probably. Unless I get any other suggestions. I am off to try my live Linux CD, to see if the sound card problems are the same there.

What Media Player Do You Use?
paxman356 replied to Martint's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I use RealPlayer for all video and to organize my mp3s into "Genre" folders. I use Winamp to play music. It's simple, free and has a good EQ. With the right plugins (also free) I also have crossfading, which makes music changes a lot more seemless. -
Q's About Old Hp And Win2kpro Upgrade
paxman356 replied to KeithLDick's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
I had WinXP running on an old Dell 400MHz P2. It only had 256MB ram, and while slow, got the job done. Before XP, I had Win2000 pro on it, and it worked as good. Maybe a little faster. It caught all the drivers I needed for it, though. Good luck. -
Lcd Monitor Backlight Not Working
paxman356 replied to paxman356's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Nah, not at over 3 years old. We just paid it off (the company.) Guess we will be looking into a new one on NewEgg. -
I have a Gateway LCD monitor that was bought 3 years ago. All of the sudden yesterday it just went out. You can still see the LCD is working, but the backlight doesn't want to come on. When it is plugged into a computer, and you either tell it to autoresize, or turn it on and off, the backlight will briefly flash. It doesn't seem to be a connection, because it doen't ever move, even when pushing the buttons. Th rarely got turned off, because it went into power off mode when the computer was off. Could it be just because it is old? Or is this fixable for a low amount of dollars?

Just an update. It did wind up being the hard drive. I have installed Windows fresh in a 16GB hard drive, with the old 40GB as a slave. Now the hard drive juggling begins, as I will be switching from 40GB/80GB in my work computer to just an 80 in my old (but faster) home computer, and dual 40s in the upgraded computer. Thank you all for the help.

Recording Am/fm To Your Computer
paxman356 replied to bj1's topic in Windows 10, 8, 7, Vista, and XP
Find a good portable radio with headphone jack, and plug it into your computer's line-in. I don't know of a program that can record on a timer, but I have always used Audacity (search at download.com) to record. Good luck in your search. -
when you say you set it to 200mhz on the board, that might mean you set it to 400mhz. athlon use double data rate. most of the time setting it to 200mhz on the board, is like setting the FSB to 400mhz(double data rate). By any chance are the settings on you board giving in increments like 166mhz and 200mhz, that would mean your borad supports 333 mhz and 400 mhz. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It is a 100MHz setting. Sorry I misquoted it. I will be reinstalling Windows on another hard drive tonight, so we will see how that goes.
