My only real problem here is avatars; the specs are different.
My avatar only would work correctly if I uploaded it here, so I made a new one.
Does anyone know how many members have come here after the Tech Support news?

Nice to see you mboverload.
Banned himself? Now we know they are trying to find any excuse...

You could host it yourself or use Bittorrent.
If enough people are downloading it, Bittorrent could be a great solution...

Well, with the Tech Support forums closing, that makes me think CFH might be canceled.
But then again they might be removing them for the a suprise CFH board with CFH in the US.
CFH would be so nice to see in the US, it would help me get over the Tech Support board loss...

If you want to recover files, you could download and burn Knoppix to boot the system up and get the files off.
A XP repair install might work also.

Did anyone else notice that the annoucment came around the 15th, and it was 15 months since the G4 merger (or TechTV murder )

You can, do a google for vnc.
VNC is a remote desktop protocol, and there are many free clients and servers.
One VNC server/client for Windows that I have used is TightVNC (and I used it on XP Home if you want to know)
Just set it up, forward any ports needed so you can connect from the internet, and you are set (if the server on that computer is running, just add the link to start it to Startup)

You could use NTPassword to change it to something you want.

If it was me I would phisiaclly install the drvie, then boot up knoppix. Knoppix has program called cfdisk. It is a very good(easy) program for partitioning. Do you need this backup space availbale to linux, if so you may want to use fat32 for part of it?
with cfdisk you are given the option to leave space unallocated. This is what you will want to do to prepare for linux. I would reccomend leaving 5 -10 gbs of unallocated space for your linux installation. The rest of the drive you will want to make it ntfs or fat32, or a combination of the two.

When I installed Knoppix 3.6 (love it, although right now Knoppix (CD + HD install) and Windows on my laptop are messed up bad) I used QTParted, and it worked great....

Now, if I can get use to this, I am sure it is going to be a good place...
