  1. Routine means, in this case taking it further. To the grand jury with the information collected by the investigation. "It's routine to take it to a grand jury."

And was it really a "life for a TV?" Perhaps, "a life for a father/husband/sons life"?

There certainly does not seem to be a decrease of violent crimes in areas that are more permissive in civilian firearms access.

Crime has gone down in states that allow concealed carry permits.

  2. I've read it's the demand that has dropped. Schools back in and there is some problems with jobs.

I don't think the oil companies give a damn whatever we do. Windfall profit tax? Fine, they'll decrease production and prices will go up. Cancel their leases and the prices will go up. If they gave a squat, instead of pumping cash into lobbying and candidates, they would have worked harder to bring more refineries and nukes on-line. They have us by the short hairs and don't give a damn and they will eat cake until the oil is gone...

Speculators that have the fluidity will stay clear until after the election. Those that need credit to buy are scrambling for lives, with the dive in the market.

  3. Well, after several days of 70+ and sunshine, we've turned fall like. The colors are turning and it's 42 right now.

Don't know if you all know it, but here in Mich we had as much rain from IKE as many places down south.

This is a pic of our local softball field. The fence with the yellow padding is 4' and theres ducks swimming along the third baseline.

  4. This ain't like Fire Fox to mess up.

First, I couldn't find my bookmarks, a big deal this ya know... Found out they changed the file extension.

And now none of my cookies will set. I have to log onto every site I visit.

What did I do? Clicked on the update when it came in, like I have always done.

What did they do? Mess with my XP trying to fix Vista problems?

    Shucks, I dunno...

Anyone have an idea what's going on?

  5. Computer virus infects International Space Station laptops

A malicious computer virus that steals passwords has been brought on board the International Space Station, Nasa has confirmed.

The virus, known as W32.Gammima.AG, was carried into orbit on laptops brought up by astronauts in July.

The space station's core operations have not been affected – Nasa described the infection as nothing more than a "nuisance" - but an investigation has been launched into how security systems were breached.

W32.Gammima.AG is a worm virus that was first detected in August 2007. It copies itself onto computers in order to steal log-on information - including usernames and passwords - for online games. The virus then attempts to send the information back to a central computer.

At least two laptops on the ISS have been infected, suggesting that once on board the virus may have been transferred on a memory device that was plugged into both computers.

This is believed to be the first reported case of a space station computer getting a virus, but a Nasa spokesman said there had been previous instances.

"It's not a frequent occurrence, but this isn't the first time," Kelly Humphries told the Wired website.

Computers on the ISS are not directly connected to the internet, although they have access to a satellite data link which allows then to send and receive emails, information and videos.

The infected laptops are used by the astronauts to compose email and store information on nutritional experiments, and are not part of the space station's "command and control" network, Nasa said.

Nasa is working with its international partners on the space station, including Russians, to find out how the virus got on board, it said.

The ISS is a joint project between Nasa, the European Space Agency, and the space agencies of Canada, Russia and Japan. It has been continuously manned by astronauts since 2000.

  6. object when they come in and lop things back far enough that they should not have to be back for a year.

Great theory Pete, but I haven't seen them trim my neighborhood for over 5 years. They don't even do line maintenance or even replace poles anymore. It's all sub-contractors. Our last two outages happened on their easement along open land with no houses nearby. The b4$tard$ are raping us and the shareholders are smiling.

  7. I've heard our power co. is being "investigated" about all the latest outages and the length of time to get folks back on-line.

You know, in summer you can survive with a loss of food and no TV or computer. In winter, folks can die and pipes can freeze. Damn the "profits" give us the service we pay for.

It might not be a bad idea to get rid of the union. It's their paychecks that keep going up while service goes down.

  8. The kidneys are practiacally shut down when you sleep deeply, it is only when something rouses you that they suddenly kick into overdrive and you have to go.).

Yeah, like a plump kitty cat doing a dance on your bladder. :-0

  9. I'm not sure, but it's just a hassle to think of a hind 1/4 of top grade beef going off. We keep our freezer filled and add water and/or bottles of brine as room is made. It will hold fine for 24 hours, except for ice cream :-( Things are just getting worse, and I sure don't see it getting better. We ALWAYS have storms of some sort here in SW Michigan.
