  1. Marty, my friend, all I can say is why don't you worry about your own country, and let me worry about mine. I really find it hard to believe that someone who does not even live here can have such strong feelings about my country.

Also, as far as the mods telling people to calm down, I'm calm, not tryin' to start no trouble, but why have a forum if people are not allowed to speak their mind? Kinda defeats the purpose eh? I for one appreciate all the help I have been given through the the years by you fine folks, but I gotta tell ya, if you feel that strongly 'bout making this place safe for youngsters then follow your own advice.

If you are going to criticize, or maybe that's too harsh................If you are going to politely tell someone that they are starting to worry you talking about guns.............Then maybe you should refrain from going to another thread talking about the nuclear reactor in your basement....................I mean, c'mon Guy's, we can all get along............But, don't take the high road on me, and act like just because you suspect that something is getting out of hand, you gotta stop it.

Nobody's perfect, and most of all, we all(or should I say I) don't reside here on a daily basis. so cut us a little slack. If you want a tidy forum, then I suggest you start a private one. I mean no disrespect by that but the handful of regulars you have here could just as easily stay in touch by some other means.

If, in fact, you do want our visit's, then cut us a little slack. Please.

    Have a good evening.

  2. hitest-I mean this in a good way,ok? I'm calm, but if you look at what you just posted, you would make a good politician.

"Hopefully order will be restored soon and the victims will receive the help that they need."

Nobody is beating anybody up here.

And also to say that ,

"it is perhaps the worst thing to ever happen in North America."

Excuse me, surely you have not forgotten the civil war, or the Native American's.

Like I said, not trying to start trouble but, in a situation like this it is human nature to discuss it among friend's.  :)

I'm okay with the discussion as long as it remains civil. I thoroughly enjoy a good debate. However, if it starts resembling a flame war I can and will step in. When people start hurling insulting remarks at each other then it is time to chill out a bit. Thank you for your reply.

    OK?

"When people start hurling insulting remarks at each other then it is time to chill out a bit."

    I musta missed something.

btw-I never did get that knoppix disk to work right. Waiting for some Ubunto cd's now.

  3. What has happened in New Orleans is a terrible tragedy.  It will take time to resolve this awful destruction.  However, we won't accomplish anything by beating up on each other.

I can understand why emotions have been stirred up by this event; it is perhaps the worst thing to ever happen in North America.

    Please calm down a bit:-)

I've been terribly upset by this tragedy as well.  It is a terrible thing to witness when society breaks down.  Hopefully order will be restored soon and the victims will receive the help that they need.

  4. This year my oldest daughter is learning sign language in school. They are teaching it starting in the 2nd grade now. Pretty cool. She comes home every day showing me something different.

  5. Yes the guy is a genius. Although I personnally prefer the strat for rock and roll. Not dissin Gibsons at all.

    <{POST_SNAPBACK}>

Hey, I love Strats, just that my first electric was a Les Paul copy from Sears(I've got the real thing now :D ) and I just could not get used to anything else. My parents started me in guitar lessons when I was 6 years old, got that Les Paul copy when I was 10. So I guess I have practically grew up with Les Pauls. I used to marvel at artists like Stevie Ray and I'd go to the music store and grab a strat but, it just didnt feel right.

Now playing:Gibson Les Paul Standard, heritage cherry sunburst finish, bought new in '91.

  6. Did you know that Les Paul not only created the best Guitar ever made he is also responsible for a few other things.

Les Paul will be the recipient of the prestigious Sammy Cahn Lifetime Achievement Award. Still active after seven decades in music, Les Paul is a unique blend of musician and inventor. His many recording innovations--including sound-on-sound, overdubbing, reverb effects, and multi-tracking--greatly accelerated the advancement of studio recording. The Les Paul Trio, which included his talented wife Mary Ford, produced such hits as "Tennessee Waltz," "Mockin' Bird Hill," "How High The Moon," and "Vaya Con Dios." He also won a 1977 Grammy with Chet Atkins for the album Chester and Lester. As an inventor, Mr. Paul's breakthrough creation of the solid-body electric guitar paved the way for electric music and made the sound of rock and roll possible. The Gibson Les Paul guitar went into production in 1952 and was the first solid body electric that Gibson made. In 1953 while performing with Bing Crosby, he perfected the first multi-track recording machine, allowing separate lines of instrumental music and vocals to be blended together. In 1978, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
