  2. I am sure all of us know what twitter is by now; one of the hottest web commodities. I think that sites like twitter, digg and ustream are the future. This concept of connectivity where ever one may decided to be . Constantly connected! It is extraordinary.

What is your twitter account url?

    Mine: twitter.com/biosbooter

  3. comiclifeicon.jpg I am a self- proclaimed aesthetics nut! My meticulous attitude on the way things look often drive people insane around me. Some would call it a gift, and others may beg to differ. In any case, I have been screwing around with a simple little graphics app called comic life. I have a macbook. The software came on it preinstalled( I think it came on tiger), but from my knowledge it is no longer bundle. Now, do not let the name mislead you. While it is great for making a " comic" it is great to use for puting thought bubbles and fun text into pictures. I actually created custom graphics for my website( pnewb) using this software. I advise you to check it out. I will put some examples of graphics I have created.

This is a header I created for 3 of the pages on my site.

This is a funny parody on "The origin of the species"

This is an award graphic I created at my site. One of the writers at the site received it for having the page of the month. Notice the cool "star wars" like text angle.

  4. hey guys, I need help. Here is the scenario; I happily just completed editing a film I was working on in imovie(08). As usual, I exported it to media browser. Now, this is a slow process,( running on a macbook) but that is not what bothers me. My problem comes from idvd. The film was about 10 mins. I proceeded to burn my idvd project that had a simple menu( nothing crazy) and boom it tells me it will take a whopping 22 hours. At firs I thought" oh, well usually the time aprox. is wrong for a few minutes until it gets situated.

After an hour, I said forget it! This problem is reoccurring. Every time I try to burn it always takes ridiculous amount s of time. I do understand that it is not the burning that takes time, but the rendering and encoding. The idvd app itself is very beefy. Almost always it crashes( this is without any other app open) Please help me!!

Ahhh… Tech tv. What happened to it? Well, it died a long time ago. Now, all us junkies have left is G4tv which is crap.( except x-play) Here is the question; What do us â€tech Junkies†do to get our vital technology news? RSS feeds? Engadget? Both are flawed. The problem is they are not fun. People do not smile at the site of an RSS aggregator, and Enagadget what a joke. Refreshing pages every 3 seconds is terrible!! Think of this; our blog here is free of charge on our end, but Engadget is paying thousands to keep there crude site running.

My solution: Twit podcasts. “What the heck is twit? It sounds like some kind of insulting adjective!!â€

No, Twit was founded by Leo Laporte. Essentially, Twit is a podcast syndicator. Meaning, that they have multiple shows and all of which feature Leo Laporte. Let me just say I listen to basically the whole catalog of twit shows.

Some shows include: This week in tech, Mac break weekly, Windows weekly, leo laporte the tech guy, Munchcast, Floss weekly and more. All of these podcasts are available in the itunes market place and zune marketplace as well. I would recommend beginners to start with the Daily giz wiz podcast. Featuring Dick Debartolo and Leo Laporte, the show offers a light take on interesting gadgets and gizmos. It is also funny! You see, Dick is a mad magazine writer. Amazingly, he has appeared in every issue since 1966. For more info on all of the shows and the Twit broadcasting network in general visit the following sites: Twit site: http://twit.tv/

  6. I just recently started a blog. My blog consists of multiple editors( 5) and it has some really great content on it. Here is my one pecadillo; it is not listed in google. The blog was made through wordpress dot com and is very simple. I do not own the domain, but still I need people to be able to get to it through google. According to wordpress, they will list it for you on the major search engines, but I am not listed. Can someone help me? My blog is at: http://pnewb.wordpress.com/

  7. We all know about the tyrannous ISP Comcast,( Comcrap) but I know tons of people who are fine with their ISP. So, what do you think of your ISP? In all aspects,( customer service, price, speed, packages E.T.C) how would you rate your ISP? I know that my ISP, Optimum online( owned by Cablevision) is quite good. In fact, I think one of the most up to date in the nation.

  8. I was just browsing( not fit enough to surf) around the web and I found an apple disclaimer which is quite unusual. The disclaimer is on the first few pages of the " macox sever manual"

Here is a snippet : "The Apple logo is a trademark of Apple Computer, Inc.,

registered in the U.S. and other countries. Use of the

    “keyboard†Apple logo (Option-Shift-K) for commercial

purposes without the prior written consent of Apple

may constitute trademark infringement and unfair

competition in violation of federal and state laws."

I had always thought that option-shift-k was the one loop hole that allowed commercial use.. I guess not. Well, I use it for personal use.

  9. Lock your doors! Close all of the windows! The Google bots are taking over! Is it just me or have the google ad bots become a pesky little nuisance on the site? It seems that on all the posts the bots post stupid links to products. No offense to jeff, but it is ridiculous! I know jeff is trying to earn a little cash to support the site, but come on. There has to be a boundary between an ad and a disturbing nuisance. What do you guys think? Am I overly paranoid?

  10. Hey, I understand your trouble with getting traffic. I would recommend that you make a youtube video on your site and explain its message and what it is all about.( give the video a clever title so it will get more views) Also make sure it is listed on all of the major search engines.( sometimes you have to apply to be listed) Finally, about an admin, I would be more than willing to help you manage your site.( i.e. update content) Feel free to send me an email about details. email address: [email protected]

  11. I love youtube! The community is great and I love discovering great videos. A few things have always bothered me though; the time it takes to upload to youtube is egregious! I truly sympathize for those youtube power users who have to wait so long to upload their amazing content. Solution: Make a paid pro account available that will give users the power to upload at a blazing fast speed, and others perks such as larger videos. While youtube has taken a step in the right direction with their director's program, they should up the anti to a more powerful, richer account. P.S. check out my youtube channel( I personally think I have the best looking channel)

  12. The so called "tech guy" was thinking logically when he told you that you do not need an antivirus program. While there are "viruses for the mac, there are only a couple and they are pretty difficult to get. The one that garners attention now is only obtainable by visiting porn websites and downloading their software. Based on that, you will be fine since you seem to be a fairly frugal browser. One really great way to protect yourself from any problems would be to run as a standard user for day- to day tasks. So, you should have an admin account and a standard user account. If you are browsing and all the sudden it asks for your admin password you will know something is up. Remember, you are your best friend when it comes to security. You can sniff out something fishy before the anti virus can. Quick tip: when you are on a foreign wireless network you should turn on your mac's firewall to be safe.

  13. None of my usb ports work on my g4 cube.( i am using my macbook) Now, my first instinct was to reset the pram, but as I stated the usb's do not work so I can not use a keyboard or mouse. Reseting the pram on the cube requires a keyboard. So can someone help me? I beg you! I heard a theory that the problem might be the internal battery, but that sound kind of debatable.

    thanks!

  14. We live in a day in age where things spread amazingly fast with the help of the web. A few years ago, wikipedia was not part of modern day society; however in recent years it has blossomed into a great open resource. I get a little ticked off because people always whine that wikipedia is all lies and is completely made up. The fact of the matter is, most of the loons who say this are computer illiterate and have never even used wikipedia. It is like when people say " you should sell that on ebay" and they have never once in their life bought or sold on the site. While I have to admit some things are inaccurate,( small celebrity bios, controversial topics E.T.C) for the most part it is great. The invalid things normally can be detected from a mile away. Well, that is just what I think. What do you think?

  15. I was listining to an episode of the "Macbreak Weekely" podcast and they discussed a mac app called "Tooble." The compulsive nut that I am, I quckly grasped my shiny macbook and downloaded the cool little tool. "Tooble" is a freeware app that is made for downloading youtube videos on to your computer. Unlike Zamzar, "Tooble" has instant gratification and is an actual application. It has a slick interface that resembles safari and has a bult in youtube browser so you do not have to copy and paste the URL. If you have a youtube account, "Tooble" will even let you view and download your favorites! The app converts the FLV file into a quicktime and will even import it into itunes for you.( if you wish) I encourage you to check it out: http://www.tooble.tv/

  16. Jeff, I think it looks pretty awesome! One bad thing is your logo reflection gets cut off a little(do not mean to sound like a fastidious nut) maybe you can resize it a tad. The really nice thing though is how ergonomically you arranged the boxes. The placement of mail and youtube is great. How did you do that? I think I tried to do something similar on the camino browser's start page, I failed at my attempt. Does a browser file need to be modified?

  17. A really awesome site for freeware is called " Freeware arena news". I heard about this wonderful resource from a newspaper article( I think it was in the PC tip section) which acknowledged that this site is legitimate and secure. From my many experiences with it, it is pretty darn good. It is divided into various sections that range from antivirus to graphic design software. The site is a hub for great freeware. I actually received my antivirus program( avg free, an excellent program may I add) from the site. While you could scour the depths of the web for all of this great freeware, "Freeware arena news" puts it all in one safe secure database that is organized logically and securely.
