  1. I've always been under the opinion that two are way worse than one.

    1. There are unknown conflicts that occur between antivirus software.

    2. They will produce such a load time on your machine that you might as well have a virus. Don't nortonfy your machine. Just use Avast. Although I've worked on machines where Avast failed to catch viruses and Trojans that have slipped through, so currently I'm installing MBAM on all of my clients machines and teaching them how to update it and to run it twice a week.

Threatfire is very light and is not a traditional Antivirus. I can increase the effectiveness of your primary AV but there are no stats on the % of increase on the site as with McAfee and some other lesser used AVs. My load time did not change on the Win7 test machine nor did system usage become a problem. But if the increase in effectiveness is not above 5% not sure if it is worth it. Site claims a 15% increase with McAfee more with others.

Isn't that put out by the same outfit that puts out the Free Spyware Doctor?
  2. Today I noticed that as President Obama signed the $787 billion mix of tax "cuts" (really just credits). and one of the biggest public spending programs since World War II. he warned that this was not the “end but just the beginning.”

One troubling aspect of the bill is that companies receiving the funds are not required to check SS numbers on e-verify, to ensure that workers are in this country legally. Also there is still a major push to make loans to those with bad credit.

Where are we heading as a country? Where is the world heading? The Bible makes it clear that in the last days there will come a financial collapse. How soon we do not know! The consortium called “Babylon” will fall. “The merchants of these things who became rich by her, will stand at a distance for fear of her torment, weeping and wailing…for in one hour such great riches came to nothing.” Rev 18:15-17. After that economic persecution will follow “so that no one could buy or sell unless he has the mark, which is the name of the beast or the number of his name.” Rev 13:16-17. Will Obama's Greenshirts (the civilian "army" that he has promised to establish, and fund even better than the military forces) be the ones who determine who in each neighborhood will receive the "mark", and which others will have their shops destroyed, and be sent to the "re-education" camps?

  3. I had a similar occurrence; an old girlfriend from way past sent an email to one of my oldest addresses (my very first hotmail account) which I check occasionally ; inviting me to join an adult dating service. My bet is she just got out of jail and seeking a sucker.

Luckily for me, all of my old girldfriends got life without parole, so I don't have to worry about them loking for me.

  4. We've had a few topics about the economy, but the real reason I voted for Obama was foreign policy. Here's an interesting article:
Iran's president said Tuesday the world was "entering an era of dialogue" and that his country would welcome talks with its longtime adversary, the United States, if they are based on mutual respect.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's announcement comes a day after President Barack Obama said his administration was looking for opportunities to engage Iran and pledged to rethink United States' relationship with Tehran.

"The Iranian nation is ready for talks (with the U.S.) but in a fair atmosphere with mutual respect," Ahmadinejad told hundreds of thousands of Iranians during a celebration marking the 30th anniversary of the Iranian Revolution that toppled the U.S.-backed shah and brought hard-line clerics to power.

    World at a 'crossroads'

The hard-line Iranian leader said terrorism, the elimination of nuclear weapons, restructuring the U.N. Security Council and fighting drug trafficking could be topics for the two sides to talk about.

"If you really want to fight terrorism, come and cooperate with the Iranian nation, which is the biggest victim of terrorism so that terrorism is eliminated. ... If you want to confront nuclear weapons ... you need to stand beside Iran so it can introduce a correct path to you," he said.

Yes, I agree that President Obama and President Ahmadinejad can meet for talks and agree in recognizing that the questions of terrorism, the elimination of nuclear weapons, and restructuring the U.N. Security Council are of the first importance for our two countries and for the world.

I would regard an agreement signed by them as symbolic of the desire of our two peoples never to go to war with one another.

The method of consultation should be the method adopted to deal with any other questions that may concern our two countries, and we should be determined to continue our efforts to remove possible sources of difference, and thus to contribute to assure the peace.

I believe this would give us peace in our time.

  5. Since I am now in a tax bracket that has to pay no Federal taxes, I am going to support all tax increases, and opose all tax cuts.

I have contacted both of my senators, and urged them to not only support the stimulas bill, but to try to at leat triple the amount of money in it, since it is just borrowed money that won't have to be paid back for 20 or 30 years, and I won't be around that long, so I won't have to worry about it.

If you have to buy ANYTHING AT ALL you're still gonna be hit by tax increases since they'll be passed on through higher prices for everything. But I get your point.

I'm of an age that won't be severely affected by the eventual collapse of Social(ist) Security, so fixing that problem, for me at least, is academic.

    -----

But I will be able to afford to pay slightly higher prices for items because of all the free stuff that President Obama promised that he he going to give us.

  6. Alternatively, can Obama afford to sit around and do nothing as things spiral lower? This is a tough spot for the President.

"A new report from the nonpartisan (but now largely populated by Democrats) Congressional Budget Office. The CBO analysis indicates that, in the long haul, both the House and Senate versions of the “stimulus” bill would result in such an increase in government debt that private investment would be “crowd(ed) out.” “[Our] basic assumption is that, in the long run, each dollar of additional debt crowds out about a third of a dollar’s worth of private domestic capital,” the CBO analysts wrote. This would lead to a lower Gross Domestic Product during the next decade than if the government had done nothing. "" = http://news.google.com/news?client=opera&a...l=en&tab=wn

  7. The use of buzz phrases like "disproportionate response" and "war crimes" isn't going to solve a thing.

Is it possible no one truly wishes to resolve this conflict for good? Does it serve some purpose without which people would have to deal with problems they wish to ignore?

History shows the only resolution to ongoing conflict is the utter conquest of one people or idea over another. Are we so unwilling to accept a permanent solution that we're resigned to having an infinite war?

I agree with you that it would be best to have a final solution to the jewish problem in the Middle East. I see that the authorities are now looking into that situation, in spite of attempts by certain groups to divert attention by beating up on old straw-dogs like Tarek Hussein Farid = "International Criminal Court to consider Gaza investigation. The Palestinian Authority and others want the court to investigate alleged war crimes committed during the recent battle with Israel." = http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/wo...0,6059347.story

  8. Matt, it is obvious you will spin anything to favor Obama and/or look bad on Bush. Do you realize this? (hey, its hard to see our own bias sometimes)
And it seems like some will spin anything to favor Bush and/or look bad on Obama. I'm just adding my opinions to the discussion ;)

I hope that they change the constitution so that Obama can stay president for life.

I have emailed congress and suggested that on 20Feb they hold a huge tourchlight parade in Washinton to comemerate the first monthly aniversery of his rising to power.
