I had a used motherboard put in with a C Media AC97 Audio Device. The board is a K7SOM+ 7.5A made by ECS. My computer seems to lose it's sound after it's on awhile, especially when it's not in use. The only way to get sound back is to reboot. Any ideas? I checked the settings for the audio device, and in power management. I have a used, but new for me, motherboard, ECS K7SOM+ 7.5. It uses C media AC97 audio configuration device which is on the MB. There is major echo on all my sound. It is not from my microphone, since I get it when I unplugg the mic. A technician downloaded the drivers for me, he also put a jumper on the audio jack that is used to connect the audio jacks to the front of the tower case, which my case doesn't have. It wouldn't get audio without the jumper. (Sought of a termination if you will) Has anyone come across this echo and have gotten rid of it? Any ideas would be apppreciated. Allan ---

Honda Boy, I tried one stick at a time in the primary slot. It doesn't get any signal. I would really love for this new board to work. The 2 memory sticks bought were supposed to be brand new. I installed them with no static. Everything powers up,but no video.

Whenyou say SLAVE the old HD in the new system, how would one do that? Also, with the bad sys file, won't that be a problem?

I went to my local computer repair place, and they put in a video card, to see if we could bypass the non-video coming off theboard.....NO luck. I need to return this laptop I am using, but need a computer that works. If I get a new motherboard, will it work with my processor? I also bought the MB used from ebay. I don't think he has restocking fees. As for the slot, I believe it's an AGPslot,but it doesn't seem to work with the video card we tried. I ordered a K7SOM+ replacement board from ebay which came and does not have any video output. I amgoing to try to get my money back. I also had to order 2 PC3200 Rams, 256MB each, for the new board. The motherboard has the monitor jack on it as well as all the other jacks. I assumed I didn't need one. The old one had it on the board also.

Thursday May 11, 2006 12:41 PM (NEW!) I have an AMD Atlon 2000+ proc with 512MB Ram, Windows XP Pro, 60 GigHD. My ECS K7SEM motherboard was smoking. I bought a replacement for it from ebay, the ECS K7SOM+ board. I had to order new RAM, PC3200, 2 X 256MB = 512MB total. When I turn on the computer, there is no monitor signal detected from the board. I hear the HD sounds, which sound normal. There is power to everything. What canI do? Is the MB defective?
