I Don't Remember What Setting To Change

Recommended Posts

Hi experts!!

I have just recently re-installed Ubuntu 5.10 and I know that there is a place

to change a setting somehow so that I don't have to always enter a password

and log on name.

I can't remember where this setting is, however, so I am wondering if somebody

can point me in the right direction.

Thanks!!

Jim

run this command in the terminal

gdmsetup

the program gdmsetup lets you configure the file /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf using a simple gui. You also can just manually edit this file with a text editor; it is probably just easier to run gdmsetup

Further to shanenin's excellent post. To find gdmsetup click on System--------->Administration------------>Log-in Screen setup. In the window place a check in the box to allow automatic login of your preferred user.
