gamefreaks420 Posted January 7, 2006 Report Share Posted January 7, 2006 I'm wondering how i can keep my computer active .if i leave it inactive for about 30 minutes the Internet shuts off and it goes into hybermode or something, i was wondering how can i stop it from shutting off or going into modes.reason i ask is i got a download its going to take 2 days and i need my Internet and that program activate.any help will be greatly appreciated Quote Link to post Share on other sites
jimras Posted January 7, 2006 Report Share Posted January 7, 2006 What you are looking for is the power options.In XP, right click on the desktop somewhere and choose properties.Then click on the screen saver tab and on the bottom of that page is the power options. click on that button and then you should see the settings for turning off the monitor and hard disks and the standby settings.Change all those to 'never' and that should fix that.If you have to do a really long download, you might want to check out a program like "get right" which will monitor your download and if you get disconnected, it will resume the download from where it got lost.
