i found this niffy program, Brutus, a free software that will shutdown, lock, logoff or standby the way you want it.

Tired of waiting for Windows to end the apps so you have to click "End Now"?? Brutus will take care of that, it will give you three simple option. Brutus can terminate your apps right away when you click shutdown without waiting for that "End Now" window. It really save my finger clicking on apps. my apps tend to hanging and ask me to end it. it really annoy.

If you want to use Brutus to shut down/standby/logoff/lock the computer, you must use their Desktop icon, or Quick Launch icon or through Program/Brutus 2006/
