whats the PCI Express x 1 slot for as its a small slot is it for future pci express cards

It's meant to serve the same basic purpose as regular PCI slots- a general interface for sound cards, hard drive controllers, and what have you.

Cards for the x1 slots have been few and far between, but it's getting there.

From what I can remember the last time i read 'bout pci-express, it is designed (hopes) to replace agp.
