JDoors
OK, this could've gone in the "Rant" thread if I had a different outlook on life: Shopping ... So the person in front of me at the register has an unlabeled item. Uh-oh, this rarely turns out well. The cashier is searching, and searching, and searching ... Can't find any clue as to the value of the item. She dials the associated department and is obviously connected to another person without a clue. Another cashier comes over, reads something on the item, it's a holiday "giveaway" at $1.99 IF you purchase three unrelated items. The customer says, "Oh, no thanks then. You know what? This wasn't anywhere NEAR the items that were required." End of story? Nope. The original cashier continues to talk on the phone, continues to talk to the other cashier. OK, now this is where it could have gone either way. I could be upset that the line's not moving now. Hey, drop it already, let's GO! OR, and this is how I felt, I was impressed that the cashier took it upon herself to: RESOLVE THE ISSUE SO NO ONE ELSE WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN. She got all the necessary information, made a decision, and sold the item to the customer for $1.99 without the required purchase. Customer: Happy. Store got rid of a seasonal item: Happy. No one else will get stuck in line with that item: We're all happy.
thesidekickcat
Now that clerk made a big good impression with not only the customer she had, but all that saw her make the extra effort to make the customer happy. A caring clerk makes the store look good and customers will come back because of her. Congratulations to her, and to the other clerks assisting her, and to those in line waiting patiently. I love happy endings!!!I couldn't remember the name of this thread yesterday, and was only in view new posts, not in main section, planned to look for the thread today but got sidetracked so am pleased to see you bump it up not only with a good report, but so I could tell what happened to us yesterday too.My hubby started having blobs of floaters hit his left eye on Sat, which wouldn't be a worry except he had, as he called them, lightening bolts too. That worried me and I wanted him to go into Kaiser Urgent Care, but he's stubborn and said he would wait until Monday and make an emergency appt with eye department. So he worries all weekend, and then calls in Monday to find out no one available including advice nurse due to it still being a holiday. So we went in to urgent care after all, and a nice Dr checked his eyes but not being an eye Dr, couldn't tell for sure if anything truly wrong, so he put a note to eye clinic for an emergency appt to be made for this week. He was to come back to talk to hubby afterwards, but having waited for a couple of hours I had to make a hurried trip to bathroom, so I missed him telling hubby the good news someone would be able to see him. and then hubby came over to pound on door to hurry up as we were to go meet an opthamologist, and a security guard, to let us all in to the building where eye department is. So rushed over, and met up with a really nice Dr who had just come in to catch up on some of his paperwork and somehow found out from other Dr that hubby needed to be seen so said he'd check him out.Gave hubby a very thorough eye exam, and said it appears that the vitrious (sp?) gel had separated from lens (I think it was from lens) anyhow it happens he said to everyone as they age, causing floaters and sometimes the flashing lights. But it had not torn anything and ruled out other possible problems too, which the original urgent care Dr had been worried about. But my dear hubby is to take it easy for a couple of weeks to not make it get worse, so no strenuous work or exercise, and to come back to the clinic for a checkup in six weeks. So all the long involved exam and counting all the drops in eye and wait time for drops to take effect (hubby needed more drops then usually done for some reason) ( during which time the Dr used to boot up several computers in other rooms and get the printers going etc), he spent about an hour taking care of my hubby to be sure all was ok. So that to me was sure a nice big help to us, plus he also took time to reassure us. So nice of him to care for people that aren't even his regular patients (he is a glaucoma specialist). Bless him and the urgent care Dr who went the extra mile to find someone on a day off for most clinics and staff, including all eye specialists and that whole building in fact was empty/locked. Now that is what I call wonderful service to a patient way beyond normal good care.Today the eye clinic called and asked how hubby was doing, then set up the next appointment too. All is well, except for hubby has to get used to some "cobwebs" in his eye. Pat.God bless everyone.
JDoors
A medical story in the "Say Something Nice" thread? A first! BTW, regarding the wait in line for the cashier to actually fix a problem rather than just pass it on: The lady behind me did not take it so well. I don't recall her comments but she made two that showed obvious impatience with the whole deal. Also, I let the cashier know when she apologized for the wait that I appreciated her taking care of the problem properly.
