How Do You Take A Screen Shot

How did you take a screenshot with windows. It was like cntrl prtscn or something. I cant remmeber how you do it.

Hit the print screen button and then paste it from the clipboard into an image editor. Save.

Lol, I just learned how to do this today for school work and just showed it to my pop - I've gotten the picture to work in photoshop but haven't tried Paint yet, that could be your problem

Hit Print Screen (or alt-Print Screen to get just the active window). Open Paint. Hit Ctrl-V. Save it.

yes i tried pasting it into paint and even tried the alt Print screen but its not pasting anything,.

This is what I did,

Alt+Print Screen for the window you wish to capture, went to Paint,

Ctrl+V to paste(or Edit > Paste), File > save as Trend Micro.jpg

Then I went to http://photobucket.com/ (free to join) clicked on Browse, found the pic, click on Submit.

Left click on the bb code next to Img, then right click on it > copy, then right clicked in this reply >

paste and got this.

Using Paint to PrintScreen and Crop part of a page:

1. Click on PRINT SCREEN. Hold down on the ALT key while doing so to get just the open window.

2. open PAINT

3. click EDIT>PASTE

4. On the left side bar, choose the SELECT tool so that the dotted lines bordering your picture disappear.

5. Using your left mouse button, draw down and across to cover the area you want cropped.

6. Click on EDIT>CUT

7. Click on FILE >NEW

8. When it asks you to "Save changes to Untitled", say NO.

9. Click on EDIT>PASTE.

10. click FILE>SAVE AS

11. Browse to where ever you want to save it.

12. Name it something

13. change the file from a .bmp to a .jpg under SAVE AS TYPE.

It works for some items on your screen, but not graphics rendered via overlays, i.e. video. You'll need special screen capture software for that.
