Outlook Express Problem

A friend can't send messages in OE. They go as far as the 'Outbox'.

She get's the following 'Error Message:'

Error Message:

Your SMTP server has not responded in 180 seconds. Would you like to wait another 180 seconds for the server to respond?

Account: pop.sbcglobal.yahoo.com(1)

Server: smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

She says OE has never worked and sbcglobal techies couldn't fix it so she's been using yahoo mail. I suspect the setup is probably not right but I don't know enough to be sure. Anyone have a fix?

XPHome

P4 2.0

HDD 40G

RAM 256

DSL sbcglobal

Try this:

OE / Tools / Accounts... / Mail tab

Highlite your account, then click "Properties"

"Servers" tab

Under "Server Information":

Incoming Mail Server __ POP3

Incoming Mail (POP3): __ pop3.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

Outgoing Mail (SMTP): __smtp.sbcglobal.yahoo.com

"Advanced" tab

Outgoing Mail (SMTP): __ 25

Incoming Mail (POP3): __ 110

You can also adjust your Server Timeouts here

Apply / OK
