nifaba
Hey everyone, I’m trying to understand the rules of tennis better, and I keep hearing about "faults" when serving. Can someone explain exactly what counts as a fault in tennis? I know it has to do with the serve, but are there different types of faults? Also, what happens if a player faults twice in a row? Are there any exceptions or unusual situations where a fault might be called? I’d appreciate any insights from experienced players or anyone who knows the rules well. Thanks in advance! dimicag
A fault in tennis occurs when a serve doesn't land legally in the service box. This can happen if the ball lands out, hits the net and doesn’t go in, or the server commits a foot fault by stepping on or over the baseline before making contact. If a player faults twice in a row, it results in a double fault, and they lose the point. What is a fault in tennis? It includes any illegal serve that doesn’t meet the rules. A let is not a fault—it happens when the serve clips the net but still lands in the correct service box, allowing a replay.
