WeissNow here's a prediction you can believe in: Sean Maloney, the chief sales and marketing officer for chip maker Intel, predicted yesterday that Microsoft's upcoming Windows 7 operating system will be welcomed and adopted by consumers and businesses much more quickly than Vista. In a story in InformationWeek, Maloney said that Windows 7 will be happily embraced after Vista was shunned by millions of users who had heard about Vista's poor compatibility with older printers and other peripherals, and its slow performance.story at pcworld - http://www.pcworld.com/article/169335/inte...ll_succeed.html>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

JDoors
If people didn't upgrade to Vista due to worries over compatibility with (relatively) ancient hardware, Seven is not going to be the magic solution. If it's being promoted as such there's gonna be a huge backlash when people discover it won't magically work with hardware that doesn't have updated drivers. As for speed, Seven's got that, but partly due to the fact that by default it doesn't install stuff you MAY need. Install that stuff, and ... who knows? And a lot of businesses just don't need to upgrade. XP does what they need. Heck, '9x is still in use becaue it does everything some people need. I think maybe the OS is a mature market and that explains lowered sales more than anything (and people just haven't admitted it yet).
isteve
It may not be a great success but I think it will be adopted much more quickly then vista. It will come on most new netbooks, laptops and towers and most people think it is better then vista and XP. Of course the majority of pc buyers just care about surfing and how cheap it cost.
